Day 32 ( Arzua to O Pedrouzo). I started the day by putting on wet clothes that had not dried overnight. To add insult to injury, they smelled. I had now become a smelly European. Yikes! Then, the scariest part of the morning was having to put on the still wet (and heavy) boots. There are so many thoughts and emotions: all of them seem to be muddied by exhaustion, excitement and confusion right now. Kilometers walked: 30.24. Steps taken: 41,194. Day 28 (Triacastela to Sarria). I woke to the sound of rain and wind. I thought that I might stay in bed a little longer. I was not looking forward to four hours of walking in the rain. I delayed my start until after sunrise (8:15) since it was a short day (14 miles.). Surprisingly there was only a little rain when I started out. Day 31 (Palas de Rei to Arzua). It was apparent to me very early on today that Santiago was not going to make today an easy day. There were rains, winds, and hills (both ups and downs.) Day 29 (Sarria to Portomarin). When I got up this morning it was overcast but not raining. A good sign, I thought. After only one hour of walking 4km, I was soaking wet and sitting in a bar just trying to dry out and to see if the weather would break. The Spanish raincoat keeps me dry, but is not breathable.
