The annual Not-Back-to-School unschooling picnic in West Des Moines was last week. We showed up very late, didn't meet many adults, but the kids dove in and made some friends. It reminds me of when she was very, very small and we would hear her in her room, whispering, practicing, but never saying a word to us directly. Not until she was sure she had the whole talking thing down. I'm very proud of her for trusting herself AND US enough to try. Am I pleased she succeeded?
