Ecuador: A Gringa's Perspective. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). At Carmita´s house in the country. Veil of the Bride. A famous waterfall near Baños. Steffi and Shelly in the cable car. Right before our descent to a waterfall near Baños. Here is my friend Steffi who came along for the bike ride. The Center of the World. Here I am at the Equator - though they actually put the sign a few meters away. Riobamba affords a great view of Ecuador´s tallest mountain.

Ecuador: A Gringa's Perspective: Training Wheels

http://www.ecuadoronegringasperspective.blogspot.com/2009/09/training-wheels.html

Ecuador: A Gringa's Perspective. Tuesday, September 22, 2009. The Monday before last, I started practice teaching a two-week course in Quito. It's basically a chance for us volunteers to take our first wobbly steps as educators (before we start teaching in our assigned provinces). Despite my year in Americorps in front of, shall I say, energetic high school students, I still felt undeniably nervous about this little two-week experiment. How much English would my students know already? It was hard to say.

Ecuador: A Gringa's Perspective. Sunday, December 13, 2009. After my slow start in Ecuador, life has somehow sped up to a blur – and what with living it, I have lost track of documenting it. It would be impossible to fit all that´s transpired into one blog, but below I’ve included a few weekend highlights. We took a bus out from Riobamba, landing in the nearby pueblo Chambo, after which we clambered into the back of a local’s truck that was going our direction. We bumped along the choppy dirt r...Steffi ...

Ecuador: A Gringa's Perspective. Thursday, October 8, 2009. The Adventure of the Day-to-Day. I told her I was a little embarassed about my laundry abilities, but she just winked and said, "With me, no.". Jessica managed to sneak hers into the trash when no one was looking, but I unfortunately was not that quick. I never was able to finish it. I found out later that it was intestines. http://klaralyn.blogspot.com/2009/11/cuenca.html

Direct from the riomamas. This is where I post about Ecuador, Riobamba, and things that happen to me. Last weekend I went to Cuenca, which is the most beautiful city I have seen in Ecuador (and will see, as most people assure me). The whole old town is a UNESCO world heritage site, which is probably the reason why it is kept so clean. Cuenca has a lot of foreigners living there, which is why it has such a cosmopolitan array of food and clothes and places to hang out. There is even a brew house. Slumber p...

I really liked my students and they were almost all interested in connecting with me. 3 - I found a slug on my bathroom wall. Which is a lot grosser than the millipedes that sometimes hang out in my bathroom in Chapel Hill. 6 - No one calls me Klara. It has been a few minutes since I have updated this webular journal. Currently I am enjoying an extremely pampered (electricity and warm water ALL THE TIME) holiday with my family in Switzerland. I have recovered sufficiently to write a couple of verses. So, here are a few updates in NHS (Newspaper Headline Style).
