no three by fives: February 2010
http://nothreebyfives.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
No three by fives. One thing on my Bucket List can be crossed out – go to the Olympics! Jimmy, Rachel, Micaela, Adam, and I in front of the torch. Wayne Gretzky wasn’t in sight. Us with… Olympic Sasquatch? Canadian pride x infinity. The amount of people on the streets was nuts. I felt like I was in Hong Kong again! These fake trees were adorned with drawings by kids. I got a very warm, world-y feel. Canadians especially, but people from other nations sprinkled into the mix. Hello, world. Next adventure: ...

No three by fives. My life according to John Mayer. Damn it, Bessie / Jake Enrique (facebook). Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Pass it on to people you like and include me. You can't use the band I used. Try not to repeat a song title. It's a lot harder than you think! Repost as "my life according to (band name)". Are you Male or Female? Bigger than My Body. How do you feel:. Describe where you currently live:. If you could go anywhere where would you go:. Interest...

No three by fives. And then it ended. Most people have no idea how much of a challenge this year was. From feelings of failure, isolation, heartbreak, rejection, disappointment, fear, and doubt – this year has been one rough roller coaster! Despite those elements there have also been great things: community, fulfillment, calling, fun, presence, oldfriends, newfriends, family, and unforgettable moments. All good things must come to an end, and so must the bad. And good riddance! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador: August 2010
http://rostrodecristo.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 12, 2010. Orientation Comes to a Close. Trembling out of Bed. Trembling out of Bed. I experienced my first earthquake this morning! That goodness Jenn and Marita woke me up, or I would have snored straight through it. We must be pretty far from the epicenter because it was just a minute of minor shaking. What a way to start the day! We ended at Las Peñas, a lighthouse downtown, which looks over the entire city. The day wore all of us out. But gave us a much needed tour of the city.

Friday, February 13, 2009. Allowing ourselves to be nourished. How do you ever get even with them if you can´t give them anything in return? The generosity and love that is poured out for us, in allowing ourselves to be humbled in a way that we are not used to and not always comfortable with. Sort of like God´s love, right? I mean, who among us thinks that we´ll eventually be able to ´get even´ with the love shown to us through the creation, redemption, and sanctification of humanity? The Face of Christ.

Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador: The Violence of Love
http://rostrodecristo.blogspot.com/2011/04/violence-of-love.html
Thursday, April 14, 2011. The Violence of Love. Easter is itself now the cry of victory. No one can quench the life that Christ has resurrected. Neither death nor all the banners of death and hatred raised against him and against his church can prevail. He is the victorious one! Just as he will thrive in an unending Easter, so we must accompany him in a Lent and a Holy Week of cross, sacrifice, and martyrdom. As he said, blessed are they who are not scandalized by his cross. Oscar Romero, March 23, 1980.

Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador: June 2009

Tuesday, June 30, 2009. I was sitting in church the other night, enjoying the pleasant breeze that drifts through the open rafters above the lit up auditorium of a holy space, when it dawned on me that love is a choice. This past week I got to host my second retreat group, a lovely bunch of high school girls from Magnificat in Ohio. They were a joy, bursting with the excitement and curiosity and passion that our elders gladly smile upon to see coming up as tomorrow´s leaders. It can be easy to see Christ...
