You Are Here: Home. Helping Kids During Tragedy. Helping Kids During Tragedy. Posted by: Bill Ziegler. Posted date: December 16, 2012. As a principal, I was heart broken when I first heard the news of the school shooting in Newtown, CT. I walked to my office, read the report online, and teared up as I thought about my own kids. Tragedies like Newtown pierce the heart of everyone but kids can be especially taken back by something that hits so close to home to them. Always tell the truth. Respect the integ...

Park, pump and pig out at gourmet gas stations. Raquo; Park, pump and pig out at gourmet gas stations. Posted on October 21, 2013 at 10:49 am. By Sarah Sekula, published in USA TODAY. Many things about the Valero gas station in the trendy U Street area of Washington, D.C., are typical. Like the blue dumpster that sits in the corner of the small parking lot, the chewing gum stuck to the asphalt and the orange construction cone that props open the door. When I mention gourmet gas stations to my sister, Lea...

Sharing and blabbering my finds and thoughts in educational technology. Thursday, August 27, 2009. Bully the New School Year. It's time for school to start all over the nation, and as our kids go back to school we have to address bullies. It's a topic that has become hot over the past few years, especially with cyber-bullying opportunities. For older kids who tend to be the bully, even slightly, I recommend reading the book "19 Seconds". More on that later. Posted by Danielle Abernethy.

Sharing and blabbering my finds and thoughts in educational technology. Thursday, December 6, 2007. Today in history: - Dec. 6. Fifty years ago, on Dec. 6, 1957, America's first attempt at putting a satellite into orbit failed as Vanguard TV3 rose only about four feet off a Cape Canaveral launch pad before crashing back down and exploding. In 1790, Congress moved to Philadelphia from New York. In 1889, Jefferson Davis, the first and only president of the Confederate States of America, died in New Orleans.

Sharing and blabbering my finds and thoughts in educational technology. Thursday, July 24, 2008. Communities: One Size Fits All? I read a great article. Thanks to a twit by Cool Cat Teacher, about communities and social networking. It seems like a lot of people are using the buzz word "community" to try to pull people into their site. I know a few months ago I joined the American Idol community. So what can a community do to keep it from fizzling? When I went back to the article I saw a response. Anyway,...

Sharing and blabbering my finds and thoughts in educational technology. Sunday, August 31, 2008. You can't turn to the news, into a Twitter Conversation, onto a new webpage without seeing news or an ad about Obama or McCain. Nothing I'm hearing has swayed me to vote for either one - YET. I've heard a lot of great promises, but no actual plans yet. Here are my questions:. We're in the middle of an economic crisis. Part of it is because of the gas prices and part is because of the UN. Just a thought.).

Sharing and blabbering my finds and thoughts in educational technology. Monday, March 17, 2008. What if they are using a template from a site such as BrainyBetty or an open source document/page layout? I would still document the source. The creator is not getting paid for it, but props is always nice. What if it is from the Smithsonian or an actual Public Domain site? Check thier rules for use, and again- it only takes a few strokes of the keys to actually document it on a works cited page. Teaching stud...
