White Guy in Japan: Japanese Thanksgiving
http://whiteguyinjapan.blogspot.com/2008/11/japanese-thanksgiving.html
White Guy in Japan. Thursday, November 27, 2008. I embarrassingly surprised when my British friend said how lovely it was to celebrate her first Thanksgiving. It's easy to forget that only Americans celebrate Thanksgiving- I kind of assume everyone celebrates holidays, but I guess that's the American mentality. If it's not 'mercan, it sucks. Here's the famous Osaka Dome. This is Halloween. Yes, I'm still wearing my Tigers jersey. That's my costume. Two birds, one stone. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

White Guy in Japan: April 2009
http://whiteguyinjapan.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
White Guy in Japan. Friday, April 17, 2009. White Guy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I've been really busy ever since I've gotten here, so I don't think I'll be writing much until I have some breathing room. I've got so much lesson planning to do! The first thing I noticed about the city is that it's a lot like Mexico- it's really hot, there's lots of people sitting on tiny plastic stools on the sidewalks, the food is spicy, vendors constantly harass white people, and the traffic is like a demolition derby.

White Guy in Japan: Track and Field Club
http://whiteguyinjapan.blogspot.com/2008/12/track-and-field-club.html
White Guy in Japan. Friday, December 5, 2008. Track and Field Club. I went to track and field practice almost every day this week. Well, just the afternoon ones. There’s no way I’m going to the morning ones (yes, they work out twice-a-day, every day, the same as all the clubs do)- there are no showers at school, so I’d have to go the rest of the day all sweaty and gross. I was invited by a student the other day, who really wanted me to go to track practice, so I took him up on it. 8221; I asked. When I g...

White Guy in Japan: Uno is popular in Japan
http://whiteguyinjapan.blogspot.com/2008/12/uno-is-popular-in-japan.html
White Guy in Japan. Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Uno is popular in Japan. What do you do when someone offers you their daughter’s hand in marriage out of the blue, without you ever having dated the girl or even expressed interest in the girl? I’ll tell you what I did: I stuttered. Plus, I was in the middle of a game of “Uno” and a little buzzed from the wine at dinner. Anyway, after I said something like, “Really? 8220;You don’t have anyone waiting for you in America? 8221; (no way! You can take her back...

White Guy in Japan: January 2009
http://whiteguyinjapan.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
White Guy in Japan. Tuesday, January 13, 2009. The street in the cute village called "Nozawa" just ouside Nagano at the base of the ski hill. There's a famous onsen (hot spring) here with minerals and stuff that's supposed to have some miracle healing effects and such. The skiing/snowboarding was incredible. Perfect conditions, snowing every day. And it was just so gosh darn beautiful I wanted to chew my glove off. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Old White Guy in Japan. The Old White Guy in Japan.

White Guy in Japan: September 2008
http://whiteguyinjapan.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
White Guy in Japan. Friday, September 26, 2008. Video of my apartment and surrounding town. With a soundtrack. And some unecessary bad dance moves. Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? When teachers complimented me I was like, yeah, but they're 12 years old. The kids were really surprised to see me running and I could hear them yelling "burento! The principal was stoked. The day before, he ran a loop with me on the track and after that he was blaming me for the pain in his right leg. I said it was becau...The k...
