The first two decades of his life passed uneventfully, the only notable highlight being a short stint as an intern at People magazine, an experience that allowed Hockensmith to realize his lifelong dream - crank calling Crispin Glover. 1 Tell us about your current novel. Saturday, December 31, 2005. Ed here: Anybody who ever spoke with Elmer Grape for even a few minutes realized that here was a gentleman of the old school, funny, kind and bright. Our condolences and prayers are with Jan. With a heavy heart I must tell you that I lost Elmer, my wonderful. Husband,friend, companion, sweetheart, partner and chief supporter on. Dec 29th. A bowel obstruction surgery went fairly well, then. Surgical site broke down, second surgery to repair on Wed, seemed to. And was in no pain.
