Edible Legacy

Monday, 27 January 2014. Happy (belated) Australia Day! I wish I could say I celebrated Australia Day on the beach, or perhaps with a picnic in the park. But no. I was holed up at home taking shelter from the cold, wet and miserable weather. Thanks London. So I celebrated in the next best way - listening to Triple J's Hottest 100 while making a recipe from the CWA! Adapted from CWA Classics. 20g butter (1 Australian tablespoon). 60g golden syrup (2 Australian tablespoons). 3 cups self raising flour.

Edible Legacy: May 2013

http://www.ediblelegacy.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 7 May 2013. Damson gin and vodka - an update! It seems like years ago that I started the process of making damson gin and vodka. In fact, it's only been 7 months or so, but that does mean that I was well overdue for the next step - bottling! I think the results look pretty good so far. I'm planning on leaving the bottles untouched until Christmas. Though I have kept aside about 100ml of each as a little reward for now. I'll report back with some tasting notes once I get a chance.

Edible Legacy: January 2012

http://www.ediblelegacy.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 25 January 2012. An experiment in espresso and cake. I had a dilemma - what to do with approximately 500ml of freshly brewed espresso. That's enough espresso to keep me in iced coffee heaven for several months. I could bake. And still be in iced coffee heaven for a good while! So, I took said espresso, and some dates, and made a cake. The finished product was totally delicious. The best idea I've had in a long time. Espresso and Date Layer Cake. 170g unsalted butter, room temperature. Once the...

Edible Legacy: Dreaming of Spring

http://www.ediblelegacy.com/2013/02/dreaming-of-spring.html

Sunday, 17 February 2013. It's technically still winter here in the UK - it's less than a week since we last saw snowfall - but there are already signs of Spring in the air. This morning, I was very excited to see the first daffodil blooming in the garden and it looks like there are plenty more right behind it. We also made a couple of exciting additions to our new home. One thing I will definitely be able to make time for come Spring, is broad beans on toast. Garlic Broad Beans on Toast. Subscribe to: P...

Edible Legacy: December 2011

http://www.ediblelegacy.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Monday, 19 December 2011. Christmas Hampers - 2011 Edition. Once more, Jodie and I spent a feverish 36 hours madly baking, mixing, stirring, wrapping and laughing as we made our annual Christmas hampers. This year we had a record number of recipients, which meant that we were cooking in almost ridiculous quantities! We always try to find a good balance between favourites from previous years (ie tomato relish) as well as some new recipes. You can see some more photos here. Posted by Anecia Coppack.
