Edible Rex

Sunday, December 2, 2012. We’re back with another amazing pizza recipe! And this time we’re getting creative. Instead of a traditional cheese-sauce-and-topping mix, how about something a bit wild and exotic? I present to you:. I came up with this idea when I had an extra can of chick peas and wanted to do something interesting with it. Typically I would have just made hummus which I’d eat with chips. But this time I wanted something more appropriate for dinner. So, you will need:. 4 tbsp Lemon juice.

April 2012 :: Edible Rex

http://ediblerex.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 19, 2012. Ready for a recipe with some foreign appeal? How does Paella sound? True, but for those aching from the economy, I have prepared a simpler recipe with ingredients you're likely to have floating around. I present to you: Poor Man's Paella! For the recipe, you will need:. 1 cup rice (uncooked). 1 cup diced green pepper. 1 can peas or mixed vegetables. 1 can diced tomatoes (or 1 large diced fresh tomato). 1 medium onion, diced. 2 cups chicken broth (or prepared bullion). And there ...

October 2010 :: Edible Rex

http://ediblerex.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 28, 2010. Been busy lately, so here's one that's quick and easy. Chicken Alfredo! This could be as simple as tossing a chicken breast onto the foreman grill, then onto a bowl of pasta with alfredo sauce. But for the amateur gourmand, you gotta do something extravagant. Still, this is an easy recipe. Put a pot of water on the stove and leave to boil. If the water is boiling, add half a box of pasta. I used penne. Fettuccine is the more traditional noodle. But any will work. Wait until th...

Tom’s Vinegar and Salt potato chips. This week I decided to review Tom’s Vinegar and Salt potato chips. It is a known fact amongst my family and close friends that I LOVE anything vinegar! Earlier this year my step father to be bought me a case of these lovelies! All I have to say is WOW! To begin, the texture of these chips is like no other. They are thick and provide a crunch. If you are looking for a good chip to have with your sandwich, or one to have on its own I would recommend Tom’s. On the pasta&...

Edible Reveries

Thoughts from an opinionated home cook. And I found a trick while cooking the pasta! Adapted from my divine inspiration, Ina Garten. 3 tablespoons olive oil or bacon fat if you have it. 1 large onion, chopped. 3 carrots, diced into coins. 3 stalks celery, sliced. 3 cups butternut squash, diced small (1/2 inch cube). 3 cloves garlic, minced. 1 teaspoon dried thyme. 1 28 oz can whole tomatoes, crushed by hand. 4-6 cups (approx.) chicken stock. 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes. Salt and pepper to taste.

The Edible Review

Seeking soul in restaurants. Thursday, December 31, 2009. 2009 Year in (Edible) Review. As we enter the futuristic sounding year of 2010, I want to take a moment to reflect on the endlessly changing, fascinating food industry. Perhaps we were dining in recession times, but did it really taste like it? No, it was still awesome. Did we have any less fun? Nope, not that I could tell. Was it a little more casual? How would that make us feel? My favorite new restaurant of 2009 is Aldea. Links to this post.
