Edible Vignettes: December 2011

http://ediblevignettes.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 26, 2011. Christmas 2011 recipe links. Clementine Sherbet: http:/ www.nytimes.com/2009/01/04/magazine/04food-t-001.html? Made with clementines instead of tangerines, would use a bit less salt next time, but amazingly delicious nonetheless. Sugared Cranberries: http:/ blog.mychefonline.com/2011/12/sugared-cranberries/. It just wouldn't be Christmas without this cake. 6 T unsalted butter. 2 c evaporated milk. 3 T baking powder. 4 c whole cranberries, rinsed and picked over. 2 t baking soda.

Edible Vignettes: The secret to great black bean burgers.

http://ediblevignettes.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-secret-to-great-black-bean-burgers.html

Thursday, June 13, 2013. The secret to great black bean burgers. Green olives. That's the secret. Not lentils. Not mushrooms. Green olives. This is how I make them. Soak dry black beans in water for 8 hours or overnight. Drain, rinse, and put in a large pot with enough water to cover them by about three inches. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until tender. Skim off the scum as it cooks, and after about 20 minutes add seasoning - salt, garlic powder, and oregano. Lots. Trust me.

Edible Vignettes: Fruit salad. For real.

http://ediblevignettes.blogspot.com/2014/01/fruit-salad-for-real.html

Sunday, January 5, 2014. Fruit salad. For real. This is a serious fruit salad, meaning that the ingredients include fruit. And only fruit. You might be skeptical about the presence of fresh (tart! Cranberries and the absence of sugar, but the dates and other fresh fruit and just enough sweetness. It passed the 4/3 year old taste bud test with flying colors. 2 c frozen wild blueberries. 5 oranges, peeled and chopped. 2 oranges, juiced. 1 lime, juiced. 4 to 8 oz fresh dates. January 6, 2014 at 4:34 PM.

Edible Vignettes: September 2012

http://ediblevignettes.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 2, 2012. 1 (ish) Tbs olive oil. 1 yellow squash, halved and sliced. 1 eggplant, peeled, quartered and sliced. 4 to 6 tomatoes, chopped. Salt and pepper to taste. The recipes that I have read included fresh basil or marjoram but I didn't have any on hand. I thought about adding dried herbs but the taste was so good that I just served it with salt and pepper. Edible Vignettes: August 2012

http://ediblevignettes.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 20, 2012. Layers of vegetable goodness. 4 c milk (I used water mixed with powdered milk). 2 T butter (I used unsalted, so if you use salted you may need to decrease the amount of salt). 1 tsp kosher salt. 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper. Scant 1 c polenta (because this is all I had, but if you double the recipe use 1 3/4 cups). This is Jamie Oliver's recipe, using tomato sauce instead of canned tomatoes because that is all I had. 1 T olive oil. 2 to 3 cloves garlic. 2 14 oz cans tomato sauce.

Nursing My Blog Back To Life. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 by Amy. I know. I don't deserve to consider myself a blogger. But maybe you want to forgive me and think I can do better in the future? I'm giving you the video below as a little "let's make up and be friends again" offering. I think you'll find it's worth it. A little pre-video note: This is all real. And it's all serious. And it's 199% amazing. Go to utahwolfproductions.com. If you want to see more. Thanks to Collin for the great lead.).

Monthly Archives: January 2013. January 25, 2013. Well January is kind if my time of wallowing in the doldrums, and this January is worse than ever. How can it not be, it’s cold, the air is the worst I’ve ever seen, and I’m missing California. Actually I don’t wallow I just have to do things that don’t suck me in so much, … Continue reading →. What I’ve been up to recently. Bruschetta. Simple is often the most delicious. Peanut butter cup cookies. Teriyaki chicken and coconut rice. Sweet as sugar cookies.

Teriyaki chicken and coconut rice | Happy family meals

https://happyfamilymeals.com/2014/03/05/teriyaki-chicken-and-coconut-rice

Teriyaki chicken and coconut rice. March 5, 2014. Yeah, no clever title or anything interesting, just plain and simple good food. This meal was really easy to throw together and you have time to read some books with the kids, shower, or just relax while it’s cooking. There are a million ways you could change this to suit your tastes but my family seemed to like as is and for me you don’t mess with success, especially when it comes to kids and food🙂. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1/2 cup soy sauce. Saturday, May 30, 2009. Thursday, May 14, 2009. Should be smooth sailing from here, right? Problem solved, yes? No I hold out my credit card to the gruff man behind the counter who says, “espèces.” Or cash only. Well, that’s the problem in the first place, right? I can use my credit card as credit, but I can’t pull money from the atm. For saving my butt in this situation if he knew. No matter. He’s good at weaseling his way out of guilt and I had $30, so who cares? A true bohemian experience in Paris!

simple people. simple blog.: Tripping

http://jonandamyshaffer.blogspot.com/2011/10/tripping.html

Monday, October 17, 2011 by Amy. Perry acting cool with his friends at the bus stop. Growing up, my family had a healthy tradition of family vacations. Come hell or high water, my mom made travel happen, whether it was a camping trip on a shoestring or a family cruise. So I told Jon he could blame her for my constant trip scheming. After enough pestering, Jon made a monumental effort to clear his crazy work schedule and we took our first family vacation to Seattle. And it was awesome.

Monday, October 17, 2011 by Amy. Come on. I've gotten to wake up to this dude every day for the last half a year. I am feeling pretty lucky. In the last six months of Perry, we've discovered:. His sneaky, demanding sense of humor. If it's not actually funny, he won't laugh. And if you reuse old material too much, forget about it. He can and will heckle you until you cry. That his favorite way to communicate displeasure is a fake cough that morphs into an indignant, pissed-off yell at the end. Have you al...

This is my journal anyway.  . All mosques were given a direct order from the government barring them from holding any memorial services for Neda, and her family was threatened with grave consequences if anyone gathered to mourn her, said Samsami. Everyone Has a Twin. Saturday, December 6, 2008 by Amy. Notice anything funny about this picture? Yeah, that's not me. Twin, if you're reading, maybe we could get together and switch places for a week, kind of Parent Trap style. I could take over your indie craft fair responsibilities and you could figure out what I'm doing with my life. I think it's a pretty fair deal. Just let me know if you're interested. PS- Also, does your indie craft friend happen to have a sister named Judy? Everyone Has a Twin.
