My Dad's Boots: January 2015
http://mydadsboots.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Here I go in 'My Dad's Boots'. Wednesday, 28 January 2015. The Lake District - Angletarn Pikes. Map: Bing and Ordnance Survey. This track takes you towards Side Farm but before that you cross the lovely Goldrill Beck, one of Ullswater's key inflows. Once you reach the farm you will see the first of two Lakeland slate signboards. Take a right here. The second slate signboard is a little way on, by the gate that takes you on the start of your ascent. The climb starts in earnest after the trees. As I rounde...

iscot blog: Self Publishing for virgins
http://iscotblog.blogspot.com/2014/01/self-publishing-for-virgins.html
Friday, 3 January 2014. Self Publishing for virgins. Like many a virgin, I had an rather rose-tinted view on how things would be when I actually took the plunge. The day after Million Dollar Monkey (Book One). Appeared on amazon's site (wow - its global, you can even buy my book i n Australia! I'd imagined that I'd check the Kindle Direct Publishing. At first, ever the optimist, I was convinced there must have been some kind of technical glitch at the heart of the situation. Gremlins. When I'd calmed dow...

My Dad's Boots: August 2014
http://mydadsboots.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Here I go in 'My Dad's Boots'. Saturday, 30 August 2014. Leeds Liverpool Canal - Gargrave to Skipton. Felt it was about time that MDB had their first Canal Walk outing, so I decided a section of the Leeds Liverpool Canal between Gargrave and Skipton in Dad's beloved Dales would be a great start. The walk, as you'll see from the handy directional fingerpost is a 4 3/4 miles long. The weather was a real mixed bag of drizzle, full rain, wind, dry and lovely warm sunshine. typical Dales weather then! The ama...

My Dad's Boots: March 2015
http://mydadsboots.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Here I go in 'My Dad's Boots'. Monday, 30 March 2015. Yorkshire Dales - Grimwith Reservoir. Map: Bing and Ordnance Survey. I arrived on the B6265 and parked up on the free Yorkshire Water car park, got suited, booted and brewed up. The weather was somewhat mixed but the prevailing wind was strong and gusty so I decided that tea should be taken in the safety of the car. The reservoir is the home of the Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club. As I walked the path I was entertained by a number of their members. I rej...

My Dad's Boots: January 2014
http://mydadsboots.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Here I go in 'My Dad's Boots'. Sunday, 5 January 2014. Eccup Reservoir - MDB 1st official outing! Birdwatching becomes a secondary activity whilst fishing and Dad would often comment on the birds he'd seen whilst he was out for the day. He was quite taken with birds and their song, he said it added to the sound track of the day. It was earnestly swooping about on the thermals looking for pray. I knew once I had seen this fabulous sight we could be in for a treat. The pathway is bordered on the other side...
