Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon | nisireads

Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon. I’ll be participating in the Dewey’s 24 Hr Readathon. Today, officially beginning at 8a my time and running for 24 hours. I don’t pretend I’m young enough to pull an all-nighter, but I’m thinking that this is a delightful treat after two weeks of overextending myself, and gives me the perfect excuse to do what I want (i.e. read with my feet up) ALL DAY LONG. 1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? From my cozy living room in Oakwood, Ohio. I plan to read for ...

Writing By Hand: June 2013
http://pensandpencilsandpaper.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 20, 2013. Many of you know that my daughter is getting married soon (because you have heard about it in letters from me). And soon means Saturday. This Saturday. (gulp) We're ready, though! However, I have talked a lot about doing calligraphy for her wedding, so I thought it was time to show it all off. Then we went shopping for the invitations themselves, and we fell in love with a particular style that just happened to include a spot for custom calligraphy. So I thought, SURE! Another ob...

Writing By Hand: Restocking the stash
http://pensandpencilsandpaper.blogspot.com/2015/04/restocking-stash.html
Saturday, April 11, 2015. Recently I have been sticking my toe. or maybe pen. back into the writing by hand waters. I started slow, with some mail to some long-neglected pen friends, who, although I was not writing to them, were ALWAYS ON MY MIND. OK, well maybe not like that. Anyway, another toe-dipping venture is Postcrossing. It's a BEACH. I love to look at the water. Satellite view of the sound, with the Mississippi barrier islands. A view of the beach/hotels/casinos. April 18, 2015 at 3:48 PM. Follo...

Writing By Hand: February 2014

Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Incoming and Outgoing Mail. I'm having fun with the Month of Letters so far. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can stay on track with it! Here's what came in the mail yesterday from a penpal that I actually met through LetterMo, Ria, and have kept in touch with over the past year:. And here's today's outgoing mail: a postcard to a LetterMo contact (a new one this year, just basically a postcard swap), and a reply to the above letter. As you can see, I got a little. In case you ...

Some April Reads | nisireads
https://nisireads.wordpress.com/2015/04/19/some-april-reads
Larr; Book Challenge Updates. Every time Sunday rolls around, I have this niggling thought that I should be writing a blog post, and somehow it’s slipped anyway. So here I will do a quick fly-by of the books I’ve read so far in April. When the month began I was still in a bit of a hangover from A Little Life. So the next book I turned to on my kindle needed to be something very different that would be a brain-cleanser. Not to recommend this as great literature, but The Great Zoo of China. Was a series of...

For the love of pencils. Rite in the Rain Mechanical Pencil Review. September 4, 2014. September 7, 2014. I’ve always liked Rite in the Rain. Notebooks. While I’m not particularly outdoorsy (I prefer to be called an. Like most good bloggers), I love the durability of their paper and the retro aesthetic of their yellow or tan products, and of course, the gorgeous script typeface in their logo. That’s why I was excited that they introduced a series of mechanical pencils. It’s wider, though it’s less prone ...
