The Orvis Blog: September 2009
http://orvisblog.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
A look into the mind of former Edmonds City Council member Dave Orvis. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Strom Peterson's flip-flop on heights. I know that by putting up this blog, many of my supporters and friends are cringing. I can here it now, “Dave your being negative again.”. But here me out for a second…. Look, if Strom Peterson were a candidate for a national office, wouldn’t you want the press to point out how a candidate’s statement changed over time? Why should it be different for the council?

The Orvis Blog: July 2010
http://orvisblog.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
A look into the mind of former Edmonds City Council member Dave Orvis. Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Will the Planning Board vote to shut you out of council appeals? Tonight, the planning board will once again take up land-use appeals to the council. In the past, they have recommended to shut the public out of the council appeal process. Will they do so again, despite the fact that the city council has made it very clear that this is not going to happen? And I can site examples:. Bauer V. Edmonds: The he...

The Orvis Blog: August 2009
http://orvisblog.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
A look into the mind of former Edmonds City Council member Dave Orvis. Sunday, August 30, 2009. Did Priya Cloutier lie to the unions about her signs? If you're like me, you don't much care about endorsements. However, I am very interested in what a candidate will do and say to get that endorsement, especially when that candidate takes a stand on a policy issue. Or worse, they lie. Now to be fair, the unions have forgiven Priya. In short, I think she's lying. After all, if Priya. Lies to some of the most ...

The Orvis Blog: October 2009
http://orvisblog.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
A look into the mind of former Edmonds City Council member Dave Orvis. Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Why DJ. Wilson endorses Priya Cloutier. DJ Wilson has invested a lot in Priya Cloutier this election. A Michael Plunkett victory means the council will restore the citizens' right to appeal land-use decisions to the council. Michael Plunkett also has a proven record of voting against taller buildings, that D.J. will not be able to overcome. He needs Priya on his side. 1) Public Disclosure Reports. 5 Yep, D...

The Orvis Blog: Mayor or Manager? Let the public decide.
http://orvisblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/mayor-or-manager-let-public-decide.html
A look into the mind of former Edmonds City Council member Dave Orvis. Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Let the public decide. The council is currently deciding on whether the city should have a Strong Mayor or a City Manager to head the executive branch. Wait, that's wrong. The council is actually deciding whether to let the public decide. On whether the city should have a Strong Mayor or a City Manager to head the executive branch. While I was on the council, I was approached many times by citizens who thought ...

The Orvis Blog: Keep downtown trees
http://orvisblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/keep-downtown-trees.html
A look into the mind of former Edmonds City Council member Dave Orvis. Saturday, August 7, 2010. Recently, a tree was cut down in a city right of way downtown. Check out Teresa Wippel's story here. In the future, I hope our new council members will work with Council members Bernheim and Plunkett to save downtown trees. The impacts of cutting downtown trees are great. A look into the mind of former Edmonds City Council member Dave Orvis. Saturday, April 17, 2010. Waterfront Purchase: The Skipper’s site. The two pictures above were presented to the council from Lora Petso. On the left, Lora showed the impact of a fully developed “Skipper’s” site and compared it the undeveloped site on the right. The view impact is stunning. Lora was warning the council of the impacts of doing nothing. This hardly benefits the community as a whole. Taller buildings hurt, not help, the.

The Orvis Blog: Make room for the historic fire engine
http://orvisblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/make-room-for-historic-fire-engine.html
A look into the mind of former Edmonds City Council member Dave Orvis. Saturday, July 24, 2010. Make room for the historic fire engine. This Tuesday, the council will discuss what to do with the historic fire engine, which can no longer be stored at fire station #1. The council should tell the city and staff to keep it! City staff will say " no we can't," and will give all sorts of reasons why.which the council should reject. Tell staff no excuses, if you can't find room, MAKE room! Here are some ideas:.

A look into the mind of former Edmonds City Council member Dave Orvis. Friday, February 19, 2010. 17 years ago, Martha and I kissed for the first time. Martha decided she wanted to cook my favorite dinner for me, so she asked me what my favorite food was. When I told her, "Meatloaf! She laughed. Anyway, she and a friend prepared meatloaf and I ate most of it. Yum. That night we kissed. Meatloaf can have a very powerful affect on relationships. I highly recommend it. Links to this post.
