Lost in Frankfurt: July 2008
http://lostinfrankfurt.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Musings from the Main River on life, travel and food from an American expat. Saturday, July 19, 2008. The tragedy of lake mead. We are making our way from Los Angeles to Chicago right now and we've decided to take a few detours and see the sights. One of which was supposed to be the man-made wonder that is Lake Mead Recreation Park. Unfortunately, we drove all the way down the boat launch and still weren't in the water, even though the GPS had us placed squarely in the blue. Friday, July 11, 2008. Well, ...

Lost in Frankfurt: April 2008
http://lostinfrankfurt.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Musings from the Main River on life, travel and food from an American expat. Sunday, April 27, 2008. Lost in Spain: Sardanes in Squares. As we were walking around today enjoying our last hours in Barcelona, we kept coming across circles of older folk dancing outside of the Cathedral near La Rambla. I didn't take any pictures of this unfortunately, but I found this one online. What a fantastic tradition though. I love that people just dance in the streets here. I quite like this city. We've had our fill o...

Lost in Frankfurt: November 2007
http://lostinfrankfurt.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Musings from the Main River on life, travel and food from an American expat. Tuesday, November 27, 2007. Here's to smoking. . . Again. So I climbed out of the subway tonight to once again be treated to the sight of a protest winding it's way along the street in front of my building. That's right, once again my neighborhood pro-smoking protesters were chanting and singing their way through Sachsenhausen. This may become a weekly fixture in my life. How funny given what I do for a living. He is dying of li...

Lost in Frankfurt: February 2008
http://lostinfrankfurt.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Musings from the Main River on life, travel and food from an American expat. Monday, February 25, 2008. Election 2008: Yes We Can. So today I stumbled across this video while reading Ad Age and a poll they were taking on whether professional advertising type people should be volunteering their services to political campaigns. An interesting question given that I know back in the day the founder of my agency, Leo Burnett, himself contributed to the Goldwater campaign. And platforms like YouTube. As we con...

Lost in Frankfurt: June 2008
http://lostinfrankfurt.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Musings from the Main River on life, travel and food from an American expat. Saturday, June 28, 2008. Lost in the UK: Surfing Devon. Ever have one of those trips where even if the conditions aren't exactly perfect it's still fantastic? This would be one of those trips. I have to say, despite the forecast, the waves are pretty crap. With my luck they'll smooth out on Monday when I'm back in Frankfurt for my VERY LAST DAY. Whoohoo. Totally local, and with a kind of Jack Johnson/Ben Harper sound to them.

Musings from the Main River on life, travel and food from an American expat. Monday, March 31, 2008. So I'm home from the Canaries again, but as with most of this trip, it couldn't help itself but end in some sort of travel stupidity. So here we go. So bag checked and tickets in hand I headed to the gate. So far, so good. Sunday, March 30, 2008. Surf School Stories Part II: Last Night Out. What a week it's been, new board, no clothes for 8 days and a couple of wonderful new friends. Before I get to our b...

Lost in Frankfurt: October 2007
http://lostinfrankfurt.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Musings from the Main River on life, travel and food from an American expat. Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Lost in Vienna: Part II. Well, I just got back from my second visit to Vienna (and most definitely not my last). This was a totally different experience than the firs time when I went with Marc. That trip was all sightseeing and wandering (exactly what I wanted to do mind you), while this trip was all about family and friends and sitting in the Kaffeehaus. The culture here is completely different tha...
