This distinctive lighthouse is on a stretch of the Outer Banks that has witnessed everything from hurricanes to malaria, from pirates to Nazi U-boats. A NATIONAL GEOGRAGPHIC staff member plotted more than 500 Shipwrecks all along the Outer Banks and many happened along the waters of the Bodie Island Lighthouse. And, likewise, every lighthouse has a story. Links to this post.

For over 7 years I devoted myself to photographing products for people who can’t stop themselves from buying them. Apparel that is shot on skinny models and then photoshopped to look even skinnier and, in the end, it makes people unhappy because they never look like the models that wear the apparel. Getting fired was an incredible gift.

The desolate and windswept site of Kin Klizhin in Chaco Canyon, the granaries of Cedar Mesa, and the incredible splendor of Canyon de Chelley. They are crown jewels among the thousands of ancestral puebloan sites in the Four Corners area. A sort of cosmological timepiece. Did the Bronze Age people make petroglyphs to contact the underworld? Or were they marking what they saw?
