lure mad: On the perch again
http://www.luremad.com/2014/12/on-perch-again.html
Saturday, December 13, 2014. On the perch again. As cold weather settled in and the weeds in the canal dropped to the bottom, a new perch season started. And oh, how it started. Amazing days on the canal, hitting perch after perch on small softbaits rigged on a jighead or drop-shot. I am not saying that I got tons of huge fish everyday and everywhere, I really had to work for it. But the rewards were there, and they made the cold, the rain and the wind much more bearable. After half an hour of messing ar...

lure mad: July 2014
http://www.luremad.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 9, 2014. All I can say about the West Coast of Ireland is that it has surpassed my expectations in all the possible ways! From breathtaking scenery, people's hospitality and most of all fishing! It was far from being easy since the only guide I had was Google Earth (what a good friend that is for the exploring fisherman), but ended up having some of the best fishing experiences of my life! Everything around screamed "fish"! I nearly fell of the rock with excitement! I landed the fish afte...

Thursday, May 7, 2015. Light Shore Jigging for Pollock. Shore jigging isn't the first method that comes to mind when thinking about pollock fishing. But it gained more and more attention over the last few years, and for good reasons! For me, it seems to be one of the most productive methods of fishing when targeting this species. Last week, since it was a Bank Holiday weekend, we took a trip to Connemara. Fortunately, they were around and willing to play! Using metal jigs seemed to be the best way to fis...

Monday, July 6, 2015. Smith Dragonbait Trout rod review. It's been 3 years since I've been doing all of my trout fishing with this absolutely amazing piece of equipment that is the Smith Dragonbait Trout 6' rod (because this is the version that I'll be reviewing in this short post). And I am so glad I decided to go for it! Length: 6' ( 1.82m). There is not much to say about the design except that is absolutely fantastic. It almost looks too good to go and fish with it. Almost. The middle section of the b...

lure mad: January 2015

Sunday, January 25, 2015. Last year in August my parents came to Ireland to visit us, and since they are both mad about fishing as well, we decided to take a trip to one of the best parts of this country - Connemara. This way we would be able to do both, see some of the most beautiful places Ireland has to offer, and get to fish some of the most awesome looking shorelines. I am pretty sure that these fish have never seen a soft plastic lure before, and the angler pressure on the area is practically 0, wh...

Monday, June 9, 2014. Tict Ice Cube IC-69F Rockin' Finess rod review. Even if it is a relatively unknown name in the freshwater fishing world, when it comes to saltwater fishing, especially LRF techniques, Tict is synonymous with cutting edge performance . So to me, the decision of buying a Tict rod for small jigheads/small plastics applications made perfect sense. And I hit the jackpot with this model! Length: 6'9" (2.05 m). Lure weight: 0.1-3.5 g. Line Power: 0.8-2.5 lb. The inverted reel seat (fuji IP...

Thursday, September 11, 2014. First things first. Fishing License. If you go on a holiday and want to spend some quiet time fishing without worrying about anything than this is the first thing you must think about. Fines are high (300-400EUR) and what is worse, they will confiscate your fishing equipment! I know that this doesn't happen very often, but you don't want to be the exception. Especially that the license is only around 15 EUR. So here we go. You got yourself a Recreational Fishing License.
