Is this an old saying or a figment of my feeble mind? Anyway . . . I’m proud as pie because we just did something very cool here at the Miller household. We got a Groupon for a company called Picture it on Canvas. You send them your picture (electronically) and they print it on canvas. And you hang it on your wall . . . So, we did. Here is a picture I took two years ago in the Badlands . . . 8220;Isn’t it gorgeous? 8221; she queried modestly. Flowers at Battery Park. Give us this day, our daily Coot.

I walked out on my deck this afternoon, enjoying the sunshine and the cool air being stirred up by the creek. There was a pair of ducks in our creek. While that isn’t unusual, they were (oh boy, I’m going to say it) odd ducks. Just look at them. One is a Merganser and one is … Well, I’d have to say there is some Merganser in there along with some Mallard, I guess and probably some plain old white domestic duck. Pet birds and birding. Sunday, June 28, 2009. California has a variety of different gulls. Identifying them is further complicated by the different feather patterns exhibited by the young seagulls. California gulls are everywhere. They're at the beach, in the parking lots, they've very adaptable to human environments. This is an adult California gull. Note the white spots on the tips of his primaries. They have yellow beaks with a red spot. He looked really nice against the waves. Links to this post.

I have decided to move my blog. Sorry for the inconvenience. I saw my first solar eclipse 18 years ago at Stanford. I remember how cool it was with all the professors and staff and students. Some had pinhole viewers, others had special equipment but we all stood around watching it. Eventually, the show, and the party, were over. Just look at them.

Nearly a year ago (May 2012), the City was awarded a $929,000 grant from the Strategic Growth Council of the California Department of Conservation for said plan update.
