While my personal linguistic philosophy is far from Whorfian, it is undeniable that there exists a certain relationship between the culture of a people and the language they speak. One of my favorite things about studying Arabic is unearthing this relationship little by little. A great way to do so is by examining idioms, proverbs, and grammatical idiosyncrasies.
