Neptune Facts
http://www.eightplanets.org/neptune.html
Neptune is also known as a twin planet to Uranus due to its similar size and colour. It takes 165 Earth years to orbit the sun. Neptune has only been visited by one space craft, Voyager 2 in 1989 after it visited Uranus in 1986. Until 2006 Neptune was known as the second farthest moon, before this Pluto was known as the furthest but it was declassified to a dwarf planet. Neptune takes 164.8 Earth years to rotate once around the sun. Neptune has six rings. One day on Neptune takes 16 hours.
Planets of our solar system
http://www.eightplanets.org/planets.html
Planets in our Solar System. There are eight main planets in our Solar system. The word planet come from the ancient Greeks and means wandering star. Solar System
http://www.eightplanets.org/solarsystem.html
Our solar system is approximately 4.6 billion years old and is made up of planets, dwarf planets, moons and other astronomical objects that all orbit the sun. It was formed by a gravitational collapse of a giant molecular cloud. In the middle of our solar system there is the sun which takes up a huge 99.8% of the systems mass. The suns gravity pulls the surrounding planets towards it and keeps them in orbit. The closest planets to the sun, known as the inner planets or terrestrial planets are Mercury.
Jupiter Facts
http://www.eightplanets.org/jupiter.html
Jupiter is big enough to hold 1300 Earths. Ganymede is the largest moon in the solar system. Jupiter rotates faster than any other planet in our solar system. After the sun, moon and Venus, Jupiter is the 4th brightest object in the sky. Jupiter was first visited in 1973 by Pioneer 10. One day on Jupiter is 10 hours long. The great red spot is so big you could fit 100 Earths in it. Jupiter sends out strong radio radiation that can be detected on earth. Jupiter is 778 million km from Earth.
Saturn Facts
http://www.eightplanets.org/saturn.html
The earth could fit into Saturn 755 times. Saturn is twice as far from the sun as Jupiter. One day on Saturn is 10.5 hours. Saturn was first visited in 1979 by NASA s Pioneer 11. Four space craft s have visited Saturn. It takes 29.4 earth years for Saturn to orbit the sun. Saturn is the fifth brightest object in the sky. Three of Saturn s rings can been seen from earth. Saturn is the least dense of all the planets in our solar system. Its rings are about 250,000 km in diameter but less than 1km thick.
