Center for Iranian Studies. Editor, Encyclopaedia Iranica. Professor Yarshater received his Ph.D. in Persian language and literature from the University of Tehran (1947) and then he studied with W. B. Henning at London University, from which he received an M.A. and a Ph.D. degree in Old and Middle Iranian (1960). He first came to Columbia in 1958 and was appointed to the Kevorkian Chair in 1961. He founded the Center for Iranian Studies in 1968. Persian Poetry in the Second Half of the 15th Century.

HATARIA, MANEKJI LIMJI. 1813-1890), emissary of the Parsis of India to the Zoroastrians of Iran from 1854 to 1890. His forebears were among the Zoroastrian migrants from Safavid Persia to the major commercial port of Surat. Sasanian king (r. 293-302 CE), was crowned only at the advanced age of approximately 60-65 after the short reign of his grandnephew, Bahrām III.
