Part of organizing and downsizing is letting go of items no longer needed. Rather than just trash everything, I recommend donation and personally I have a penchant for local charities rather than Salvation Army and Goodwill. Those charities provide great services but they also receive the majority of the donations and most is shipped outside of the DC Metro area.
