I am doing everything I can to fight the slow muscle weakness/paralysis of ALS. My arms, legs, swallowing, and breathing could weaken and eventually cease functioning. I may participate in a drug trial for ceftriaxone. It needs to be injected in an implanted catheter twice a day. There can be serious side effects. My runs used to be 11 - 12 minutes per mile. N...

In summer 2009 I noticed I could not press the fingernail clippers effectively with my right thumb and index finger. I could use my hand palm or other fingers. I eventually got clippers with longer handles. Feb 2, 2010 I could not step up 2 steps at a time with my left leg, only my right leg was strong enough to double step.

The family would also like to share Eric's Christmas letter from 2015. I hope everything is going well with you. I'm doing ok. A lot has happened this past year;. In June I went four nights to respite care at a nursing home. In July I had to increase the strength of my bi-pap machine so I could breathe better.
