Life at Our House

Korea and a Hamster. A blog about Elaina and Matthew (neither of which is the hamster). Life at Our House. The First New Saturday Morning. Saturday. My eyes open. The clock says 8:32 am. I try to playback the last few moments. What woke me up? Someone screaming at someone? Someone unsubtly and unnecessarily announcing that they’re awake? Daisy banging on the gate or whining to be let out? The crash of failures in judgment from the kitchen? But what if this is–could be– normal? Daisy wants to play outside...

Korea and a Hamster. A blog about Elaina and Matthew (neither of which is the hamster). We have tons of wild blackberries, but they’re on bushes like normal, well-behaved blackberries. The other night, I was walking with my lovely daughter and my also-lovely and increasingly ginormous puppy, and Elaina said, There are blackberries in that tree. Blackberries don’t grow on trees, I said, not looking. They grow on bushes. Don’t eat them, I added, still not looking. Later, Elaina again says Blackberries!

Korea and a Hamster. A blog about Elaina and Matthew (neither of which is the hamster). Saturday was Baking Day. And Elaina and I made an invention of Elaina’s, Banana Nut Cake with Cinnamon Buttercream Frosting . It came out pretty good, really. Lots of good banana and cinnamon flavor. A little sweet, but you know, it’s cake. As with all baking days, though, it’s not what you make, it’s how you spent the time making it. As usual, Elaina and I had an interesting time. Here are some highlights. This time,...

Brontosaurus Camp

Korea and a Hamster. A blog about Elaina and Matthew (neither of which is the hamster). Matthew is going to a day camp for a week or so this summer, where they do crafts and outdoor activities. It’s run by a Montessori school. He has trouble with that word, though, and keeps telling people he’s going to Brontosaurus Camp . It sounds very exciting. I wonder what one does at brontosaurus camp. In All Things Matthew. Jul 09, 2015. Si-Yeon (Elaina) sounds like "she yahn". Grandma and Grandpa Lammers.

Korea and a Hamster. A blog about Elaina and Matthew (neither of which is the hamster). In Brother and Sister. Matthew, the Blackberry Knight, protecting his sister from the dreaded Spring Blackberry Bush. In All Things Matthew. This isn’t the first time that Elaina has accused Matthew of not being princely. But it’s the first time he had a rebuttal. 8220;We’re a royal family,” Elaina said. “Mama’s the queen, I’m the princess, Daddy’s the king–”. 8220;And I’m the prince! 8221; Matthew interrupted. Korea and a Hamster. A blog about Elaina and Matthew (neither of which is the hamster). Logistical Issues of Scale. When Daisy first came to live with us, she was a button-cute sort of thing wrinkly and sleepy and fit in a laundry basket. See? This is Daisy at eight weeks old. Eight months old, she’s still button-cutejust on a different scale. And here’s that same laundry basket she used to sleep in, overlaid. That’s a lot of change for the six months we’ve had her! When Daisy was a puppy well, a. Puppy ...
