Why are you happy to be a girl? | Elaine in Ethiopia
https://elaineinpeacecorps.wordpress.com/2015/10/29/why-are-you-happy-to-be-a-girl
Twenty-something biologist and aspiring Peace Corps Volunteer. Why are you happy to be a girl? In my previous post I talked about camp GLOW. Camp GLOW is common camp among Peace Corps Volunteers worldwide that focuses on women’s empowerment. Our camp this year was held in July in the regional capital, Bahir Dar, and I brought two seventh grade girls from my town, Bizualem and Batigist. Sorry in advance — the photos are. For this topic Bizualem asked the students three questions. Gender card with Bizualem.

Twenty-something biologist and aspiring Peace Corps Volunteer. You should apply to Peace Corps as early as possible. The normal process takes 9-12 months (although supposedly it has been shortened to 6 months). Everyone seems to have a very different timeline for the Peace Corps application, so I decided to share my story. Here’s the short version:. Application Submitted – 3/16/2014. Interview – 4/10/2014. Nominated – 4/11/2014. Legal Kit Received – 4/21/2014. Invitation – 8/8/2014. And the longer one:.

27 months of service in Ethiopia as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Books for Arsi Robe. I’m Allison and these are things that are nice to know about me but aren’t really all that necessary:. You have a pretty good idea of what we are about (the show is quite extreme but takes the true Portland spirit and turns it up a notch or two). I strongly believe that being raised in Portland has blessed me with an open mind and heart to all walks of life. 3 I am a humanitarian. 5 And this is me at the end of most days:.

Posted by elaineing @ 2:07 下午. Posted by elaineing @ 5:18 下午. 您很想知道我的名字吧...

a simple life
Planting. Eating. Living. Loving. Chewy Chocolate Chia Cookies. Ok, now to the recipe. I found this recipe on Pinterest a while ago, and I really wish I had tried it earlier. It was so easy and delicious, a perfect snack that satisfies the craving for sweets and chocolate. It's also hearty enough for breakfast or a pre-run energy boost. I'll make a double batch next time. Continue reading for my modifications, but you can find the original recipe here. Oh, and I also added pecans. Brown-Rice Spinach Spag...

Tuesday, 21 February 2012. Happy Birthday to Me. And the King of Norway Harald V. Posted by Elaine, Jarle and Mia. We had a lovely weekend in Bergen staying at the Clarion Admiral hotel right on the wharf (see picture of view from our room) celebrating Erling's 75th birthday (Jarle's Dad). The weather was rainy then snowy but we didn't mind as we spent most of our time enjoying good food and good company at the hotel. Posted by Elaine, Jarle and Mia. Tuesday, 20 December 2011. My work is spontaneous, intuitive, and always experimental. Extensive travel has enabled me to encounter first hand many of the world’s greatest art treasures. People and places visited are a constant source of inspiration and provide the catalyst for much of my work. While large abstracted pieces allow me to play with shapes and color-I also love the discipline of working with the figure- drawing and sculpting from life. Monday, May 30, 2016. My weekend before finals was spent the way I should have spent all of my weekends in Madrid: wandering the streets and stopping to see whatever I hadn't before. Granted, this was only my third weekend in Madrid so I'll cut myself some slack. Megan and I decided to make a huge to do list of everything we hadn't seen yet during this four day weekend. I'm proud to say we accomplished quite a bit of it. Stopping for a beer in Museo del Jamon: check! Megan's latest hair piece. Megan, Mic...

living my life one city at a time
Living my life one city at a time. Sunday, September 11, 2011. Thank you to those of you who are able to express sadness and loss on this day, without oppressing others in turn. This day is sad in so many ways, but my heart aches the most for the hate that has too often replaced authentic grief. I am devastated by how many of today's newscasts, headlines, and status updates contain racism, islamophobia, and hateful nationalism. This is where my mind is today: 1700% Project: Mistaken for Muslim. I start t...
