Countdown to the Next Chapter: Speeding and Playing Hooky

http://elainescountdown.blogspot.com/2012/04/speeding-and-playing-hooky.html

Countdown to the Next Chapter. Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Speeding and Playing Hooky. Lombard, Illinois was known as the home of the Lilac Festival, a pretty little suburb with wide streets leading into the heart of the town. My agenda after school one day, loyal citizen and good Catholic girl that I was, included a trip to city hall to register to vote and a quick stop at church for confession. Can't remember the nature of my sins, but I hope they were good ones. The two years I spent teaching in Illino...

Countdown to the Next Chapter: Beginnings

http://elainescountdown.blogspot.com/2011/11/beginnings.html

Countdown to the Next Chapter. Tuesday, November 15, 2011. November 11, 2011. The world didn’t end, but lots of people got married on 11-11-11 at 11:11. Guess those folks didn’t remember that human beings made the calendar and that the universe might not recognize that the date was full of elevens. At least they shouldn’t have trouble remembering their anniversaries, and that is as good a reason as any to choose a date. My birthday is on the 29. Most of the students walked home for lunch where their stay...

Countdown to the Next Chapter: April 2012

http://elainescountdown.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Countdown to the Next Chapter. Sunday, April 29, 2012. Can it be true that I have only 27 more days to teach at Oak Ridge in ISD 196! That is approximately 0.0027 (27/10,000ths) of my career left. (I can't believe I actually used a calculator to figure out the fractional and decimal equivalent of 27 out of 10,000! At Diamond Path, I was often stuffing report card envelopes on the last day of the year, sneaking back to my classroom during our traditional softball game of teachers versus fifth graders....

Countdown to the Next Chapter: The Middle

http://elainescountdown.blogspot.com/2012/01/today-is-midpoint-of-this-school-year.html

Countdown to the Next Chapter. Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Today was the midpoint of this school year, a cold and dreary day. I heard on the radio this morning that we are gaining three minutes of sunlight each day as we move toward summer. It feels as though I am edging toward the sunshine of retirement with each of those three extra minutes a day. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Picture Window template. Countdown to the Next Chapter: Retirement Party

http://elainescountdown.blogspot.com/2012/05/retirement-party.html

Countdown to the Next Chapter. Monday, May 28, 2012. Jen and I at Brainerd for the MEGT Conference. Pam sharing her thoughts. Pam also played a big role in the planning, arranging all those beautiful flowers and serving as the emcee. She has become a friend as well as the GT/YS TOSA. Her husband Mike put together the name badges with my photo on them. It was odd but fun seeing everyone wearing my photo. Kenny, Susie and friend Wendy. Me, Nancy, Julie O, Mark and Matthew. Hugs after Lisa's speech. I am in...

Elaine's Crafty Corner

Thursday, January 5, 2012. Well it's 2012 and I've had a lot happen since I've last posted back in June 2011. Way too much to even summarize. But I can say that quilting still brings me joy. Sewing drapes and altering clothes to fit me and my friends has been what I've most recently been up to in January. I will be teaching my first quilting class this upcoming Monday, January 9th at Tipsy Star Quilts. Http:/ www.tipsystarquilts.com/. Labels: Tipsy Star Quilts. Location: Asheville, NC, USA. Elaine's Crafty Interests

Saturday, 11 August 2012. Hello anyone out there! I have been absent for a while, we had a holiday on the Isle of Mann, which was lovely. We saw huge basking sharks close up and some wonderful views. The vintage transport system and the TT race route appealed to Rick, Rachael loved the beaches. Anyway I said my latest discovery was Zentangle, well, I have now been playing with paper bead making! What fun they are, if a bit fiddly. I even tangled on white paper and make beads out of that! I am very proud ...

Elaine's Crafty Moments

Tuesday, 29 June 2010. It’s getting near my annivesary so I thought I would make myself a card. Then at least I will get a card I like not what ever the local shop has. (Might charge him extra for this card though lol). How I made this card. The backing papers are from a crafts too paper pad that I just love the colours of. I embossed the spotty paper with my cuttlebug and the crafts too dots embossing folder. I stamped Tilda then masked her and stamped the castle then coloured in using promarkers.
