And so to lithium… | Ian's Blog

Not just another WordPress.com weblog. Oh well, maybe it is. The “Perkins/Fordyce” BMS. Finally, an accurate speedo check. And so to lithium…. In the beginning…. Add to this the weight saving (about 20Kg of lithium vs. 47Kg of lead-acid) and you can see that I may gain more than a little performance🙂. Getting my hands dirty – the build. Next thing was to see if the pack was actually going to fit in there – it was a tight squeeze under that crossmember, but it went in! I’d realised for a while that...

Not just another WordPress.com weblog. Oh well, maybe it is. The “Perkins/Fordyce” BMS. The “Perkins/Fordyce” BMS. The BMS system described here was pioneered by Peter Perkins in conjunction with Greg Fordyce starting in 2008, and its progress can be followed on the Battery Vehicle Society forum. This, incidentally, is about the only source of information about the system so finding detailed description is very difficult without reading through pages and pages of posts. Charger Cutback – if the cha...

Throttle problem solved | Ian's Blog
https://hohisilver.wordpress.com/2010/02/28/throttle-problem-solved
Not just another WordPress.com weblog. Oh well, maybe it is. The “Perkins/Fordyce” BMS. It’s been a long time! Upgraded – at last. So over the weekend before going away, I started taking things apart, safe in the knowledge that if I didn’t get it finished I still had a day to get it all back together after my holiday before the inevitable return to work. I disconnected all the battery cables and removed the controller, and started making up the link cables with the new 175A cable. On my return I finished...

That’s two things! | Ian's Blog

Not just another WordPress.com weblog. Oh well, maybe it is. The “Perkins/Fordyce” BMS. Finally, an accurate speedo check. That’s two things! Apologies to those who might not have got the breakfast cereal reference🙂 ). As my first experience in riding in snowy conditions earlier this week, there are 2 things I have done to my scooter that I’m really glad I did:. 1 New tyres – the K62s are *so* much better than the rubbish that was on there originally. Oh – that’s another two things🙂. Feed for this Entry.

Not just another WordPress.com weblog. Oh well, maybe it is. The “Perkins/Fordyce” BMS. Where the heart is). As I mentioned in my first post, I started this blog initially to pass on my experiences with Electric Scooters. Read my Ego Electric Scooter blog. But that’s not to say there won’t be other things I might feel the need to recount (and rant about) in the future! Responses to “Home”. Feed for this Entry. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Response to “Finally, an accurate speedo check”. Feed for this Entry. 27/02/2011 at 7:19 pm. Yes This is pretty much identical to what I was getting, too speed-wise. Those tyres are great, though, aren’t they! So nice to be able to chuck the bike about a bit with so much more confidence😀. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Not just another WordPress.com weblog. Oh well, maybe it is. The “Perkins/Fordyce” BMS. It’s been a long time! I discovered the benefits of keeping the correct tyre pressures a few weeks ago – the scooter had seemed a little sluggish for a while, until I discovered that the tyres had gone down to 17psi! This will necessitate me first of all replacing the main battery cables, as the original ones are nowhere near beefy enough for the job. I have already bought the cable and connectors for this, but I&...
