Tales of an Elementary School Librarian – Page 2

Tales of an Elementary School Librarian. When Every Day is Take Your Kids to Work Day. I know, I know, I’m a terrible blogger (if I can even call myself that these days) I haven’t posted since late June/early July, I think, after ALA annual had just ended. There’s just a whole lot going on right now, with the new school year kicking off, planning for another baby (who will be here very soon) and just living our crazy life in general. WE SAW THAT MOVIE! IT’S DIARRHEA WIMPY KID! 8221; Of course, the older ...

The Top Books of August – Tales of an Elementary School Librarian

https://elementaryschoollibrarian.wordpress.com/2016/09/01/the-top-books-of-august

Tales of an Elementary School Librarian. The Top Books of August. The first month of school has come and gone (already? And like I do every month I am pulling the circulation numbers and taking a look at which books did the best in my library. I’m always really interested in the August report because the trends can change a lot over the summer. Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. Let’s see if I’m right….the first place book is….(drumroll). Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. 2 Pigs Make Me Sneeze. The Warrior...

Benji Martin: Fairy Tale Villain Consultant. My first client-The Wolf (From Red Riding Hood) – Tales of an Elementary School Librarian

https://elementaryschoollibrarian.wordpress.com/2016/08/19/benji-martin-fairy-tale-villain-consultant-my-first-client-the-wolf-from-red-riding-hood

Tales of an Elementary School Librarian. Benji Martin: Fairy Tale Villain Consultant. My first client-The Wolf (From Red Riding Hood). Being a villain is hard work. There’s always some hero out there trying to thwart your evil plans, especially in fairy tales. Bad things are always happening to the antagonists. From Red Riding Hood. Not to be confused with the Big Bad Wolf). I took a quick look at his story, and I immediately saw that his mistakes were many (and alarming! Mistake #2: Overthinking things-.

Find the Pigeon – Tales of an Elementary School Librarian

https://elementaryschoollibrarian.wordpress.com/2016/10/06/find-the-pigeon

Tales of an Elementary School Librarian. A few weeks ago, I introduced an idea I had. About hiding the Pigeon in the library for my students to find. The idea is, whoever finds the pigeon gets to check out an extra book. I had some reservations, in the beginning. I foresaw widespread chaos, but for the most part, it has been a lot of fun. 8221;(I never give in.). Here are some of the places that the Pigeon likes to hide. The graphic novel section is pretty busy, so he likes to hide him there pretty often.

Random Musings of a Bibliophile: Finding Someplace

http://randommusingsofabibliophile.blogspot.com/2015/07/finding-someplace.html

Random Musings of a Bibliophile. Friday, July 31, 2015. By Denise Lewis Patrick tells the story of a girl experiencing and recovering from Hurricane Katrina. It is one of several books to come out in the past couple years that tell a similar story, but it is my favorite that I've read so far. But they feel organic to the story and characters. I also enjoyed how the ending showed the hard road to recovery but was full of hope for the future. Is available August 4th. August 3, 2015 at 1:10 AM. Why do so ma...
