Monday, July 4, 2011. Berlin, Germany - June 2010. Marienkirche and the Fernsehturm (TV Tower). Built in the 1960s by the then German Democratic Republic, the tower is the highest structure in Berlin and has an observation deck and a revolving restaurant. St Mary's Church is one of the oldest churches in Berlin. The oldest mention of it was in 1292. The Friedrichs-Werdersche Kirche, constructed 1824-1830 and designed by Karl Friedrich Shinkel, it now contains a permanent exhibit on Shinkel's life and work.

Sunday, August 14, 2011. North Carolina, April 2011. Flying out of Grand Rapids to Myrtle Beach via Atlanta. The very striking Wonder Works Museum in Myrtle Beach. St James Church (1839) and Cemetery, Wilmington. North Carolina Aquarium, Fort Fisher. The US.S. North Carolina Battleship. Commissioned in 1941, the ship participated in every major naval. Offensive in the Pacific during World War II. It was decommissioned in 1947 and sentenced to the scrap heap. The ship and return it to North Carolina.
