Elizabeth in China: Snow in Shanghai!!!

http://elizabethgelsinger.blogspot.com/2010/12/snow-in-shanghai.html

Wednesday, December 15, 2010. We had an awesome day yesterday! I got to have a snowball fight with my class the last 10 minutes of school! How's that for a merry christmas! First day of cold, and we got snow. Amazing! I felt like a little kid playing for almost an hour out in the snow with them. Grading? I don't think so! It was esp fun riding my scooter in the snow. It was Danny's first real snow! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 25 year old 3rd grade teacher at SMIC Private School.

Elizabeth in China: February 2009

http://elizabethgelsinger.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 28, 2009. There are many things in china that just don't make sense. and here is a prime example from Subway today. So the sub of the day was chicken teryaki today at Subway- and subs of the day are 15 rmb(2 usd). I wanted to make it into a salad - and if you change any sub into a salad, it's an extra 3 rmb. Alright - so I ordered my chicken teryaki salad, and went to pay, and they tried charging me 28 rmb. All in a day in Shanghai. Saturday, February 21, 2009. Taiwan - I stayed with o...

Quite busy with a crazy school working schedule - lots of working on weekends and fun events that make a teachers life crazy. but have had some amazing blessings this year so far. Blue Seagull: September 2009

http://ramblingsofablueseagull.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 10, 2009. So, I was about to search Google for "how to install a new battery" to find out the best way to start out with the new battery for my MacBook Pro. Do I let it charge, then let it run all the way out? Can I just start using it? Do I need to charge it, then I can use it without letting it run out? I type " How to. In that order. I don't know what this means. Does this mean that out of all the "How to's" typed into Google. the 3rd most common is how to smoke weed? We reached th...

Blue Seagull: June 2011

http://ramblingsofablueseagull.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 06, 2011. The DongXi (东西 dōngxi) Shop. These shops are one of the closest things I've found to garage sales in C-Land in that you just never know what you may find in them—and in that what you find is usually pretty cheap. The DongXi Shops are also especially useful to the crafty mind. I never cease to confuse the shop owners as I evaluate the use of wire mesh for displaying photographs, or piping to act as a flagpole or to be made into mini hurdles. Links to this post. Monday, August 20, 2012. Convenience Is A Wonderful Thing. The grand total of 18 bills, covering 18 months of water was 663.40 yuan (roughly 100 USD)- - amazing! Now granted, while some of the bills were for before I even moved into my apartment, the vast majority of them I have to take responsibility for. I also have to take responsibility for all the electricity bills that I never pay on time. And I know what you're thinking:. What if they turn off your water? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saturday, March 21, 2009. Jumping: Kids, A Pineapple, and ME. When I got to Tanzania, I found out that it was actually almost illegal to take any pictures, and that most the people didn't like to be photographed unless you paid them. Therefore we could only really take pictures: on Joy in the Harvest property, very quickly without anyone noticing, or when there was nobody around. When I had finished my jumping picture I looked at them and, motioning for them to join in, asked if they wanted to take a pic...

Friday, July 24, 2009. Pinky why so Angular? I jammed my pinky, I chanced to look at it and notice that it was at an exact perpendicular angle to the rest of my hand. Ironically enough, we were playing basketball at the Kunming Medical University, and the hospital was just around the block. So we walked down the block, and commenced the circus that is a Chinese hospital:. 1 Go to entry window and pay 6rmb for the initial consultation. 3 Take form down the hall to x-ray room. 7 Take x-rays back to Doctor 1.
