Chocolate, No Nuts. Book Talk Tuesday: short, sweet and sassy. I finally did it. I took the plunge and published myself. Short, sweet and sassy. By Carrie Padgett debuted about two weeks ago. Several years ago I made a joke about taking all my Woman’s World short romance stories rejects and publishing them myself. Well, the joke turned into an idea which became this book. It’s been a fun process. It’s available here: https:/ www.createspace.com/3904061. And here: http:/ amzn.to/OAdTOb. 8220;Liam said the...

Chocolate, No Nuts. It’s Wednesday: Positively Maybe I’m Done With Downton Abbey. Unless you’ve been living on the slopes of Mount Everest, you’ve probably heard all the kerfuffle about Downton Abbey and its season ending episode. Viewers are outraged and threatening Julian Fellowes with pitchforks and torches. The writers and production team are busy pointing fingers and yelling their reasons. I’ve read some of both sides and I have to say, I agree with them both. The reasons it made sense:. Book Talk T...

liz by design: July 2012
http://lizbydesign.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 12, 2012. Welcome to South Africa. I arrived at the O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa on Monday, June 11 at 8:30am. After proving to the authorities that I did, in fact, have a reservation to leave the country in a timely manor, I received the security stamp of approval. I LOVED seeing Giana's beautiful smiling face. It'd been almost a year and I've missed that face! It was an amazing privilege and gift to finally get to meet the Refilwe family face to face.

But I'm a Christ-follower and I know I have the gift of prophecy. My husband wonders if maybe it's a curse. He says people just don't know what to do with me. I'm having a hard time finding my place in the family of God. Two weeks later that house burned to the ground. When John and Carolyn shared the harrowing experience with the church family, I remembe...

liz by design: Speak Up!
http://lizbydesign.blogspot.com/2013/12/speak-up.html
Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Don't you just love the heart of a mother? We will do anything to defend and support our kids. When they make bad decisions, we give them advice (even when we know it won't be heeded), and then we give them a soft place to land when they stumble. When they are wronged - we will fight for them! I talked with a mom last night whose daughter recently dealt with a sexual harassment situation at work. What advice would a mom give her daughter in that situation? Can you imagine any ...

As a mom of a little girl.experiencing all of this for the first time.there are almost no words to express how I was feeling.sooooo much fun! It sure made my heart smile! I have been wondering about when to start dance class. It doesn't sit right with me to spend $256 for 10 classes for a 2 year old (I'm not judging if you do this - I promise! And oh my stars is she CUTE! I lov...

Food Talk Friday: Coleslaw – Live Vi-Carrie-ous!
https://livevicarrieous.com/2015/07/17/food-talk-friday-coleslaw
Carrie Padgett, Writer and occasional Smartypants. Food Talk Friday: Coleslaw. July 17, 2015. July 13, 2015. I’m not normally a coleslaw fan. Ever since I was a kid, it’s never been a favorite. I don’t know if I didn’t like the sweetness of some slaws or the tanginess. Whatever, if it was on the table, I may take a dollop out of politeness, but not with any gusto. I’ve named it for the friend who gave me the recipe. She even won an award for this one! Abbie’s Blue Cheese Coleslaw. 1/4 C chopped parsley.

Carrie Padgett, Writer and occasional Smartypants. Media Monday: Food Network Star. August 10, 2015. August 9, 2015. We’ve been watching this show since it The Next Food Network Star. Well, since season two. We liked Guy Fieri in Season 2. In fact, he made an appearance in Visalia shortly after he won and Darling Oldest and I took a little road trip to see him in person. For a reality competition show, there are certain elements and “characters” who seem to appear every season. There’s almost alway...
