Alžběta in Praha

Saturday, May 11, 2013. Muzička in the Rudolfinum (and on the radio! Of course I'm a few weeks late in getting around to actually writing this entry, but better late than never! In the smaller chamber hall, which is called Suk Hall. It seats 220 people and after weeks of wondering if we could really lure that many people out to listen to us for an hour and a half or so, it was really gratifying to see not only a completely full hall, but people standing in the back! The day began bright and early with a ...

Alžběta in Praha: June 2012

http://elizabethinprague.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 20, 2012. I'm on a bike. Even here in Prague, once you get away from the city center there are nice paths along the river and elsewhere - I've been on a few long runs down the bike path that follows the river southward and I've been extremely jealous of all the people on their bikes getting much farther than I am running (and also jealous of everyone parked at an outdoor hospoda enjoying a beverage.not the best combo with a run). We rode over all different types of terrain through differe...

Alžběta in Praha: April 2013

http://elizabethinprague.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Blood, sweat and tears: the Prague half marathon. Thankfully there wasn't actually any blood involved in my participation in this year's Prague half marathon, but there was definitely a lot of sweat (despite the fact that it was 3 degrees C (=37 degrees F) outside! And certainly some tears thanks to the fact that my eyes pour like faucets when it's cold out. I must say though that despite the lack of blood, there was no shortage of pain! Mob scene on race day. Was playing. ...

Alžběta in Praha: November 2012

http://elizabethinprague.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 21, 2012. The symphony always wins. No one wants to be a lone crazed fan at a symphony orchestra concert, but lucky for me, the fates were at work once again. Vienna just happens to be a very convenient meeting point between Prague and Budapest, and one of my best friends from Pittsburgh, Csenka, just happens to be studying in Budapest this year. As a fellow Pittsburgh enthusiast (who wouldn't be? In all its beauty. Of course she had a Terrible Towel in Budapest. Wave it around more!

Alžběta in Praha: December 2012

http://elizabethinprague.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 28, 2012. Čas radosti, veselosti - Christmastime. Christmas has since passed and I am behind as ever on my blog writing, but I wanted to catch up a bit on the holiday season. Prague always looks a bit fairy tale-esque, but in December everyone really pulls out the stops and we see a lot of pretty lights, trees, and cute little stands selling various food, drink, and gifts:. Vánoční trhy (Christmas markets) on Old Town Square. The fruit of this year's labors. Of course I also love baking ...

Thursday, April 26, 2012. Posted by Elizabeth in Norway at 9:57 PM. Saturday, October 21, 2006. Hi, I'm back! The eternal project is finished, and it is a very strange feeling! The Palm Tree socks are ready for wearing, if I can bring myself to take them off Flash the Peacock's tail - they look so good there! They are a copy of a pair at the Textile Museum in Washington D.C. knit some time between the 11th and 14th centuries. They were a hot subject of discussion on. The purple socks are the ". When they...

Moving through Moscow

Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Today I realized I was refraining from writing further until I had a better photograph of a Russian woman dressed head-to-toe in violet, which is a pretty extreme constraint even from a lifelong procrastinator. For instance, I finally have discovered the only quiet hours in my home, 5-7AM, and relish. 8221;). I am used to the beautiful pastel-colored buildings (seasonal depression prevention tactic #1, or so I hear: paint your office building turquoise). Thursday, June 11, 2009.

Merry Christmas, Happy Harmattan. Lets let Wikipedia explain some of the magic: http:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmattan. On the school front, I did manage to cover some material in between the end of the election and the end of first term and my SS1 (think high school freshman) finally arrived! And socially, I taught Effie how to play peek-a-boo and she loves it! December 31, 2012 at 2:32 am. The Importance of Being Ernest. November 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Back to School in Salone.
