A cardigan for a very tall and incredibly thin person….. | lizzylikescake

Some thoughts on knitting, sewing, cake and yoga. A cardigan for a very tall and incredibly thin person…. It’s taken me years to get around to making an Aidez. Didn’t happen. I ran into a different problem entirely. I managed to make a cardigan which is super duper long and at the same time impossibly narrow and thus totally unwearable.😦. While this is not the first virtually unwearable item I’ve made it is by far the most beautiful! Look how pretty the pattern is! I wish I could wear it! To make matter...

How easy is it to re-use old wool? | lizzylikescake
https://lizzylikescake.wordpress.com/2015/01/16/how-easy-is-it-to-re-use-old-wool
Some thoughts on knitting, sewing, cake and yoga. How easy is it to re-use old wool? A year or so ago I made a Funky Grandpa. By La Maison Rililie in Du Store Alpakka Mirasol. Here’s the cardigan before I unravelled it! The wool is alpaca and had started to try and felt in places so it took a little persuasion to unravel at times but I made fairly swift progress and rather enjoyed it. This is how curly it was! It looks a lot less kinky after I’d washed it. By Kazekobo (from Wool People Vol. 7. It’s...

Autumn leaves stole – just in time for the weather getting colder! | lizzylikescake

Some thoughts on knitting, sewing, cake and yoga. Autumn leaves stole – just in time for the weather getting colder! Ideally I would have used some lovely pictures taken in the park with lots of lovely autumn leaves around but it’s mainly been raining so you’ll have to make do with a self-timer picture and a messy bedroom…. Luckily for me the autumn has been pretty mild in the UK so far and I have cast off my Autumn Leaves Stole. Just in time for the winter chill to start creeping in! The pattern is real...

Snowbird | lizzylikescake
https://lizzylikescake.wordpress.com/2011/04/25/snowbird
Some thoughts on knitting, sewing, cake and yoga. Is finished, blocked and dried. I wasn’t sure about it at first so I thought I’d try the time-honoured trick of putting it away for a bit to see if it grows on me. I’ve just dug it out for some Ravelry pictures and I’m slightly annoyed that I’m still not keen. A)it’s too long on me. B) I should have used the suggested wool rather than one which I already kind of new would be too small so it’s kind of narrow. This entry was posted in knitting. One and a ha...

Free jumper! | lizzylikescake
https://lizzylikescake.wordpress.com/2015/03/12/free-jumper
Some thoughts on knitting, sewing, cake and yoga. This is the first time I’ve tried to unravel a whole project and reknit it from scratch. And I’m pleased to say that it has been a total success! I’ve turned a disappointing Funky Grandpa. Into an awesome Natsumi. I’m sure I’ll get used to it and have decided to embrace it as a feature of the jumper. Things were not looking promising before blocking…. I don’t think that you can tell at all that it used to be something else. And tagged 2.75mm needles.

Orange is the new black (or grey in my case) | lizzylikescake
https://lizzylikescake.wordpress.com/2013/12/07/orange-is-the-new-black-or-grey-in-my-case
Some thoughts on knitting, sewing, cake and yoga. Orange is the new black (or grey in my case). Even though we took quite a few photos this is the only one I can use because I am pulling weird faces in literally all of the others! I am not good at having my picture taken….I’m not 100% sure it shows the cardigan off to it’s full awesomeness but it saves you looking at pictures of me gurning strangely…. It couldn’t be further away from grey! I am rather proud of myself for my daring. I did a wrap and turn ...

Some thoughts on knitting, sewing, cake and yoga. A very belated jumper write up…. Approximately a million years ago I started to make a Carpino. By Carol Feller. I’d had my eye on the pattern for ages but was putting off making it because I was trying to have a little break from alpaca ( I realised that most of my jumpers were made of Drops alpaca and it was all looking a bit samey…). After my success in unravelling Funky Grandpa. To make an awesome Natsumi. Which I love and wear. And I’m pleased ...

Thief! | lizzylikescake
https://lizzylikescake.wordpress.com/2015/02/02/thief
Some thoughts on knitting, sewing, cake and yoga. It’s always upsetting when something gets nicked but it’s particularly horrible when it’s something you’ve made yourself. On Friday I was in the pub and another customer apparently decided that they were a bit cold and would like to warm themselves up by wearing my beloved Autumn Leaves scarf. I’m really very confident that no-one else has made themselves the exact same pattern of scarf in the same wool…. This entry was posted in knitting. Me too. The...
