Just another WordPress.com site. Losing, creating, sharing, exploring. I guess it’s time for me to start over. I even have a list of the things I need to start over with. New job – I need one. Weight loss – I need to do this. Blogging – I need to post. Writing – I need to do it. Cleaning – I’ll throw this one in there because my sink is full and my bed is unmade. Wow I’m a real slacker. Cynthia Reese: August 2010
http://cynthiareese.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Clean-sweeping the old WIP. The point is, of course, that everybody's junk looks the absolute worst when a person is elbow-deep in it. It looks hopeless. You've got all of it pulled out, bright and unforgiving daylight shining down on it, instead of having it tucked away in the shadows. You can't ignore it. You can't pretend it isn't there. So I've got little scraps of dialogue in the midst of a lot of blank lines, and I am trying to build the chapter around those scraps. It wil...

To tell a compelling story…. What I’m Reading. On babbling idiots and other stereotypes. Write for two hours and call me in the morning. What’s on your desk (continued). On: March 8, 2011. My Google Reader contained a cool link on Monday afternoon. Sean Ferrell. A brilliant author and Twitter pal, posted an essay. An author I greatly admire and whose books I thoroughly enjoy, because he replied to a comment I’d posted with Patty-that’s genius! They’d been talking about ME. Unlike Sean, I do write fiction...

To tell a compelling story…. What I’m Reading. 4 out of 5 Beaver Tails to NATURAL BORN CHARMER. What’s on your desk (continued). On babbling idiots and other stereotypes. On: March 16, 2011. While waiting for my mother, who was undergoing oral surgery, I spent forty minutes observing the oral surgeon’s office staff. If you know what I mean. Are we really hard-wired for dumbness or are we just perpetuating the stereotype? I should be publicly flogged and I hang my head in shame. The lead character in my c...

Know them intimately | To tell a compelling story...

To tell a compelling story…. What I’m Reading. My memories of reading. 4 out of 5 Beaver Tails to NATURAL BORN CHARMER. On: March 21, 2011. Shopping tells you a lot about a person. Does your hero favor designer labels over knock-offs or simply doesn’t care if his clothes come from Armani or Costco? Does your heroine scour the clearance racks or spend outside her budget on whims? How do they manage long lines and crowded parking lots? Are they rude to store employees? I jotted down all the ideas I had:.

To tell a compelling story…. What I’m Reading. You can’t make this stuff up. My memories of reading. I’m a fool for you. On: April 1, 2011. I have a confession to make I’m a bit of a practical joker. I like pranks, like unleashing my inner devil. Um Yeah. Probably took that one a bit too far. He got me good. A second is all I needed. For anyone interested, hold down the Ctrl Alt keys and press the arrow key. It took four software professionals nearly thirty minutes to set it right. 8230; or six. I want t...

Just another WordPress.com site. Losing, creating, sharing, exploring. October’s book club choice. This months book is “Beauty” by Robin McKinley. It’s a retelling of the Beauty and The Beast tale. But what she lacks in looks she can perhaps make up for in courage. QOTD: What books have you started to read, abandoned and later fell in love with? I named my ...
