I'm not a fan of many vegan cheeses, but this guy is the big exception. It's creamy, it's garlicky, it's herby, it's tangy. It's basically a vegan version of Boursin. It looks like this spread on toast for an open-faced sandwich:. Best enjoyed with du pain. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Gratin dauphinois (vegan mofo 2013 VII). Sunday sushi session spiralled out of control.

There's a quotation floating about wherein a French person says that the problem with American food is that American cooks buy. Their croûtons. The wide variety of croûtons on sale in French shops suggests that this is a fine example of the pot calling the kettle black. Proper garlic croûtons recipe. Not many people go vegan in Paris. I did in 2007. Here's how that's working out. Sunday, 26 May 2013. I like Sundays (and potatoes). Especially when they look like this. It's not Sunday without brunch, and brunch isn't brunch without potatoes. These particular potatoes are just roasted with red onion, olive oil, salt, pepper, and thyme. At 180°C for 45 minutes. Tomatoes sprinkled with fleur de sel. Join them in the oven half way through. Thursday, 23 May 2013. Bad girl courgette pakoras. 4 A tablespoon a...

Easy, classic vinaigrette. One part red wine vinegar. Two parts olive oil. One part dijon mustard. Shake everything together in a jam jar. Or in the mustard jar, as below, if you're nearly out. A neat way to use up the last bits left. Play around with the proportions to find your perfect vinaigrette. One part raspberry vinegar.

Proper chips, that is, not frites. Or even fries. Proper chips look like this:. And they taste great. My only complaint is that the mushy peas aren't mushy peas, but crushed 'normal' peas. Still tasty, but not mushy peas. I don't think the French are quite ready for processed marrowfat peas, but I am. The rest...

Not many people go vegan in Paris. I did in 2007. Here's how that's working out. Monday, 28 October 2013. The Vegg: vegan egg yolk. Does the idea of a vegan egg yolk freak you out? Yeah, it kind of freaked me out at first. But worry not, the Vegg is simply a mix of natural ingredients (like nutritional yeast and black salt) to which you add water. It then becomes very similar to egg yolk, in a space food magic kind of way. It's tasty and useful. A couple of weeks ago, the lovely people behind the Vegg.
