We're sliding into Christmas here and it's as hot as hades, my least favorite way to celebrate what for me is a cold-weather holiday. This marks my third warm weather Christmas and I still haven't quite wrapped my head around it. In fact, this year I didn't even decorate. (But I promise, there's a reason for that! Aren't there are men you could date in the embassy?

For the first time in a very long time - maybe even ever - I had Jeff and Liz's undivided attention for ten whole days. Here in Buenos Aires, and then in Puerto Iguazu and Colonia. It was AWESOME. Although it is unlikely to make front page news, Congress is once again debating whether to continue paying Foreign Service Officers Overseas Comparability Pay (OCP). This time around, they're slipping it into the appropriations bill - if the bill mentions OCP, some/all of it will get funded; if not, it will amount to a 16% pay cut for me and many of my colleagues.
