Stroll Cleveland Street as it appeared in 1900 and delight in the recreated stores, bank and hotel. Explore the train station, logging and butchering areas. Visit Snider Cabin, birthplace of William J. Snider, founder of Elloree. Learn about tenant farming and meet midwife Mary Ella Jones who was responsible for delivering many Elloree babies. Take a rest in the two-seater outhouse. Explore a plantation gin house with its original gin, cotton press, and mechanicals. Designed by Thomas Brunt's Outfront.

The average visit to the museum lasts one to two hours. Plan for at least an hour in the museum and a few hours to enjoy Snider's Store. Which is the museum gift shop, and the lovely shops lining downtown Elloree. 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. 4 Seniors (60 ). 3 Students (6 - 18). FREE for Children under 6. Elloree, SC 29047. Click for driving directions. Catering is available for having lunch in one of the town's parks. Local restaurants are also available. Phone numbers will be provided upon request.

Museum History

The museum divides its collections into four main areas that cover the period in eastern Orangeburg County history from Native American settlement to the present. The major collections deal with the period 1886 forward and correspond with the founding of the Town of Elloree. The museum's latest award was presented in 2009 by the SC Association of Museums to Becky Ulmer, Pat Holman, and Dr. Bob Holman, the three Elloree citizens that led the effort in establishing the museum.

Examples of past classes are stained glass, jewelry making, tatting, etc. Participants always have a great time learning, laughing, and making new friends or visiting with old friends during these classes.
