Unfortunately it has turned into the 1000m curse instead. So far this season during 1000m time trails and competitions she has had her blood sugar drop , has had an asthma attack, and now has fallen and sliced the back of her own leg open with her blade. Standing in "base" position for extended periods of time, "low walking," hundreds of crunches to build her core, hours of cycle sprints. So for long track skaters this is the off-season. Short track skaters in some areas are still able to find ice once or twice a week during this time. But the term "off-season" is a bit deceptive.
