Elsewhere For Me – Page 2 – The world is wide and inviting and life is short.

https://elsewhereforme.wordpress.com/page/2

The world is wide and inviting and life is short. January 26, 2015. January 26, 2015. It has to be written about. It cannot go un-said. We found it! It’s uncannily close to the recipe I created for our wedding cake (a torturous 2 day ordeal). All goey chocolateness, divided by thick ribbons of caramel. Oh my I want another piece! Cake in Granada…”. January 25, 2015. January 25, 2015. The outcome of our conversation was that it. January 22, 2015. January 22, 2015. Leon The name immediately brings to mind ...

Back in the Big Smoke – Elsewhere For Me

https://elsewhereforme.wordpress.com/2015/02/17/back-in-the-big-smoke

The world is wide and inviting and life is short. Back in the Big Smoke. February 17, 2015. We very deliberately stayed away from cities for most of our travels. Central American cities on a whole seem to be mostly renowned for crime rates more than fantastic museums, impressive architecture or haute cuisine. And aside from a sketchy night or two behind barbed wire in Belize City and San Jose whilst in transit we’ve managed to avoid the capitals completely. But there is a ripple of the fabulous here.

A game changer – Elsewhere For Me

https://elsewhereforme.wordpress.com/2015/02/14/a-sly-hand

The world is wide and inviting and life is short. February 14, 2015. February 14, 2015. Ask me 1 week ago where Costa Rica ranked out of all Central American countries and I would have said a close second… Behind Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua that is (who all tied first place more of less). So, CR was stunning to be sure, but it was a little too easy, a little too westernised and touristy and a lot too expensive to beat some other serious competitors. Until we met Cahuita. Back in the Big Smoke.

Tip of a Lifetime – Elsewhere For Me

https://elsewhereforme.wordpress.com/2015/02/03/tip-of-a-lifetime

The world is wide and inviting and life is short. Tip of a Lifetime. February 3, 2015. February 3, 2015. After quite a few early disappointments, we decided upon using our Lonely Planet for getting around, rather than lackluster restaurant and accommodation tips. For these we started to rely most heavily on local knowledge or recommendations from other travellers we meet. It can be a tricky process however, as the recommender must meet a series of criteria. What kind of budget are they on? YES throw away...

On Why I Should Be Vegetarian – Elsewhere For Me

https://elsewhereforme.wordpress.com/2015/01/30/on-why-i-should-be-vegetarian

The world is wide and inviting and life is short. On Why I Should Be Vegetarian. January 30, 2015. January 30, 2015. I saw his point, but how many of us really have access to such methods of gathering food? And I’ve never been stopped being appreciative of the education and wealth my birth in a first world country gave me, that allows me the privilege to be one of the lucky few to gather such knowledge, and to recognise what I don’t know as well. Don’t Go To Costa Rica, They Said. Enter your comment here.

Costa Rica, Here I Am! A satire blog of an American expat. Visiting the farmer’s market in Jaco and finally finding a steak. Driving to Monteverde Cloud Forest (where clouds come from) →. Our night at Hotel Cocal and Casino in Jaco. Now, to our own big adventure into the world of pretty senoritas who charge for their time in Costa Rica. Even though prostitution is not legal in America and Mexico, it is legal here and we found those involved don’t mind being upfront about it, just like you were ...A coupl...

Costa Rica, Here I Am! A satire blog of an American expat. Finally made it to the island. I survived Hurricane Otto in Costa Rica →. Batten down the nachos! Well I’m in a fine fix. As I write this a hurricane is bearing down on Costa Rica and I’m not sure if hurricanes down here are the same as what I had to deal with back home in Alabama. If I get trapped in mudslide. One thing for sure. I’m staying the hell away from mud from the next few days. View all posts by billjoehunter →. Finally made it to the ...

Costa Rica, Here I Am! A satire blog of an American expat. Newer posts →. Finally made it to the island. If you followed my original blog posts you know I came down to Costa Rica for a visit awhile back and ended up under house arrest when I returned to Alabama. Those little suckers were everywhere, like cockroaches. Sometimes, I’d take a stick of butter out of the fridge and chase them with it. Boy did that make them run! I finally did find $1 beer here. Costa Rica, Here I Am! A satire blog of an American expat. In search of monkeys. Visiting the farmer’s market in Jaco and finally finding a steak →. Our visit to Manuel Antonio National Park and Monkeyville, Costa Rica. Billy Joe here. First, an important correction to yesterday’s post. Manuel Antonio is NOT a person, as I previously said. It’s a national park. Well, slap my head and call me silly, I know. This is why parks shouldn’t be named after people. The five of us were supposed to pay the guide $2...

Ensuring a code-base can be quickly validated to perform certain functions and features based on a set of automated tests is nice, but it is not where the main pay-off comes from. A good suite of tests:. Provides a deepder understanding of the code base. Enforces modularity of the code base. Theres One Way and Theres the Right Way. Modularity i...
