Huoniao HN 125-8 servicing and maintenance. I have had this bike since September and is only used as a run about. Since owning I have found very little tech data both in the poor owners manual and on the net. What i aim to do is to photograph and record repairs that i carry out in case it is helpful to someone looking for info. The down side is.if its really reliable then i won't be updating this very often. This engine appears to be used in a lot of chinese bikes in one form or another.

Ok, so here is my shopping/to-do list for the HN125 at the moment in case you're wondering or are just nosey:. Can never be too safe! Good to know where my bike is at all times! DaveRS has given us news that there will be crash bars available for the HN125-8 very soon, specifcally for the Huoniao HN125-8! Although I'm sure the stock chain won't be the best quality chain out there.

Bike has been running great aside from the odd sticky clutch. Have had it up to about 66/67MPH on the road - screams a bit but still gets there. Engine oil change

Huoniao HN 125-8 servicing and maintenance. As the engine is of old design i decided to go for an oil designed for motorbikes. Halfords 10w40 4stroke oil semi synthetic. Run the engine for about 10 mins as warm oil flows better than cold. Place a suitable container under the drain plug and using a suitable 17mm socket or ring spanner remove the plug. Whilst the oil is draining remove the oil fillercap/dip stick. Cover of oil filter/strainer. Cover removed. spring and filter in position.

Huoniao HN 125-8 servicing and maintenance. Had a problem where the bike cut out one Saturday afternoon. I had plenty of fuel and a reasonable spark at the spark plug. Eventually the bike started off the kick start so limped it home where after switching off it wouldn't re-start. I had read on a Chinese bike forum that the side stand switch can give problems. So this was my first port of call. I removed the switch completely. The bike started straight away. A clean, dry switch.
