Sunday, June 10, 2007. I take the detour and end up tacking on another 5 miles onto the ride. The Good: The wind. Some of the time. The route took me northwest, so any north-south route that I took was pure heaven. I was rolling along at 22-23 mph and it was great. The Ugly: The whole darn day. Total travel time: 4 hrs, 22 min.

Tuesday, June 26, 2007. During the flatter parts of the ride, a town's water tower was visible for miles and served as a beacon and an inspiration that rest and refreshment were close at hand. The next time you see a water tower take a moment to check it out and appreciate what it means to the leg-weary traveler. Marvin S. Yu.
