Embodied Approach: Notes on Aida (6)
http://embodiedknowledge.blogspot.com/2014/01/notes-on-aida-6.html
Research notes on the embodied mind from phenomenological perspective. Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Notes on Aida (6). The notion of “self” comes into existence only when the noetic subject distinguishes itself from the “other”-as-“non-self” in the noematic aspect of consciousness and establishes its self-belongingness. Kimura, B. (2005). Tokyo: Chikuma Shobo, p.108 (translation by ST)]. In any case, from the perspective of “aida”, the place between the environment and the living organism is w...So, there...

Embodied Approach: Notes on Aida (4)
http://embodiedknowledge.blogspot.com/2014/01/notes-on-aida-4.html
Research notes on the embodied mind from phenomenological perspective. Sunday, January 5, 2014. Notes on Aida (4). As I wrote before, Kimura takes up the experience of music ensemble as an example to consider the function of aida, which influences both the subjectivity and the intersubjectivity. According to Kimura, this autonomy which generates through music ensemble is an paradigmatic example of “aida”. Aida originally appears as the intersubjectivity between persons, but once gained au...In contrast t...

The right competitor…at the wrong time? | tannyres

Just another try at research blogging. July 12, 2011. The right competitor…at the wrong time? I mostly agree with this interesting article. But I wonder if the new social networking platform arrived at the wrong time, and whether this is the actual problem. So on this front it seems that Facebook wins. Returning to my initial thought, all over the place you read about Facebook having reached a saturation point in North America. A very important month. The DS debate: apples vs oranges?
About | tannyres
https://tannyres.wordpress.com/about
Just another try at research blogging. I have recently completed a doctorate investigating blogging in academia and research, and I suppose I ought to keep a blog myself. These days I seem to spend more time blogging about uses of Web 2.0 in education and beyond (not too far from my research interests anyway), but I like to return to my doctoral ramblings every now and then😉. I also work more or less full-time in an academic role at a UK university. In my spare time I…hang on, what is that?

Just another try at research blogging. July 19, 2011. The DS debate: apples vs oranges? I’ve been reflecting about Martin Weller’s digital scholarship debate at ED-MEDIA. For some time (also for practical reasons i.e. interesting and useful material for the dissertation! But there is an aspect in this debate that I’m not quite sure of: the phrasing of the motion. Just another try at research blogging. May 25, 2012. Consumerism and grant-driven academia. Even in Sweden, where publishing is still very much valued for promotion, funding and tenure, the trends are changing and an acquaintance of mine recently said that becoming a full professor means obtaining a “license for hunting money”! From open access to open peer-review? An empirically-grounded framework to guide blogging for digital scholarship →. 2 thoughts on “ Consumerism and grant-driven academia. Oh my, ...
A very important month | tannyres
https://tannyres.wordpress.com/2011/07/05/a-very-important-month
Just another try at research blogging. July 5, 2011. A very important month. This month is going to be very important for me:. My supervisor and I discussed key deadlines last night. My full thesis draft needs to be ready by 15th. My final draft ready by 5th September. If all goes well, the thesis must reach the Research School by 31st October. This month I will find out who my second supervisor is (I have an idea about his identity – but no official confirmation yet). It can be useful, trendy, dangerous.

Just another try at research blogging. September 15, 2012. I have been dreaming about it for over four years now. Two days ago I got The News. It’s over, done and dusted. The thesis just needs to be deposited at the library. Unlike what I used to believe at the start, or in my low moods (and yes, there have been many! Anyway, as my grandma used to say, there is a remedy to everything but death. So I must be hopeful🙂. An empirically-grounded framework to guide blogging for digital scholarship.
From open access to open peer-review? | tannyres

Just another try at research blogging. July 19, 2011. From open access to open peer-review? I like this in principle. Actually I don’t think it kills peer-review, it just renders it more open, it could engage people outside the Ivory Tower but it would still call for a community of experts and scholars (I should hope! A group of external reviewers? Based on the background, expertise and previous contributions of the commenter? How would blind peer-reviewing be ensured, if at all? Do we get rid of it?

Just another try at research blogging. May 11, 2011. It can be useful, trendy, dangerous. I enjoyed reading this article. It reflects my thoughts about (over)using Web 2.0 in HE. Despite the wealth of tools we are offered, I don’t think we should fall into the trap of the more the merrier. This is something I also shared in an online seminar with my fellow students. April 4, 2011. Not doing what I preach? I have recently taken part in the Expert Barrier to Wikipedia. It makes me wonder about whether the ...

Conscious Embodiment | Embodied Wisdom
For change to become real, it must be embodied. The greatest gift we can give someone is to get ourselves together. - Wendy Palmer. What is Conscious Embodiment. Conscious Embodiment is a series of simple and practical exercises to enable us to experience ourselves at our most confident and present using breathing and sensation in our bodies. As we get to know that state more, it becomes more available to us and we will be able to return to it at will. Access the wisdom of the whole system. Putting mindf...
