Emerald Lake is 1,850 feet long, but the dog leg on the north end extends the skiing length about 200 feet. The south end has a turn island. The length is ample to have a boat speed set comfortably before the pre-gates.

The lake’s west side is completely covered with Bermuda grass. There is a sandy beach with a shallow swimming area roped off for young children. The rest of the shoreline is sandy and safe for other swimmers. Additional features for participants and their families include a volleyball pit, trampoline with safety sides, and a shuffleboard court. There is limited shade, so dining canopies are recommended.

Emerald Lake was purchased by Ron Lyles and Buzz and Rae Rogers in 1998. It was a ”borrow pit” from the construction of I-20. The original lake was only 3 feet deep. It was drained and dug to a depth of eight feet, extended 400 feet on the south end, and a one-acre “dog leg” was dug on the north end. The lake is spring-fed and has a greenish color. Hence, the name Emerald Lake.
