The Wooly Bully Races. Until the end of 1997, Amherst Island governed itself as an autonomous township within the County of Lennox and Addington in the Province of Ontario, Canada. As of January 1, 1998, the island has been amalgamated with the mainland Township of Ernestown and the Village of Bath to form the new Loyalist Township.
