Dbext VIM plugin - Execute mysql commands without leaving vim - cheatsheet. I recently found the Dbext plugin by Peter Bagyinszki, which eliminates the need for me to have to type out manual mysql queries on the command line and keeps you in vim. It enables you to save a file with commonly used queries, and then run them with a simple shortcut. Don't remap caps-lock to be escape - waisted real estate, for the fussy keyboard connoisseurs. Escape can be used for one function, control can be used for many. I used to have caps lock mapped to escape. I switched to colemak a while ago, and have never looked back at the qwerty mess that I left behind. Trust me, qwerty was designed to be broken and this becomes clear when using a different keyboard layout. As far as operating systems go, I am a happy linux user but recently crossed paths with osx.
