Emily's Trip to Latin America

Emily's Trip to Latin America. Thursday, 20 June 2013. At one with nature and a million little black midges. After doing nothing and enjoying sunsets on the sea in the sunny town of Máncora, I said goodbye to Beth and headed up north to Ecuador, stopping for the day in Guayaquil to visit my auntie Katuska's family, Marlene, Fransisco y Suzanne y Valeska. We had a lovely day of eating, going on a hospital tour of Guayaquil and in fact a bit of sleeping. Such lovely people, thank you! One of the roosters w...

Emily's Trip to Latin America: May 2013

http://www.emily-in-la.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Emily's Trip to Latin America. Sunday, 19 May 2013. La Paz con un poco de Coroico. The original plan was to only stay one night in La Paz, but because we loved it so much, despite the rain and cold, we stayed a few more days. We stayed in a really nice hostel, Solario, which was right next to San Fransisco and really cheap and full of french people. I think a month could easily have gone by and we wouldn't have noticed, La Paz is such an easy place! We went on a walking tour from the San Pedro square and...

Emily's Trip to Latin America: April 2013

Emily's Trip to Latin America. Sunday, 21 April 2013. El Canyon del Colca. Our trip to the Colca Canyon last weekend certainly had a very interesting start. First of all, Beth and I both overslept through various alarms and had to run out of the house to meet Pat, a friend from home who happened to be passing by Arequipa. we missed the 8 o'clock bus, bought a fare for 11 instead and killed a couple of hours having a very long breakfast. Wouldn't it be funny if we broke down? Yes Beth, it would be funny.

Emily's Trip to Latin America: 77km to Machu Picchu

http://www.emily-in-la.blogspot.com/2013/06/77km-to-machu-picchu.html

Emily's Trip to Latin America. Monday, 3 June 2013. 77km to Machu Picchu. The next destination for Beth and I was Cusco, from which we decided that we were strong and capable young women, enough so to do the 5 day Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu. Waiting in Cusco for the bus for a good hour in the freezing cold, where the only people who are about are people coming back from nights out, people going to Machu Picchu and one man selling big slices of cake. The rest of the journey was all down hill on a real...

Emily's Trip to Latin America. Wednesday, 27 February 2013. The 1 month milestone. As of yesterday, the 25th of February, I have been here for 1 month. I really can't believe it! I have gotten so used to life here. A beautiful landscape of dark mountains and clouds every morning, with a huge moon if you get up early enough. All the best fruit in the world. Strange weather that changes all the time. Work at Proyecto Horizonte has been the main part of my time here. I'm really enjoying it. On Mondays we si...

Gamarjoba from Georgia!

Thursday, June 9, 2011. I Think I'm Riding the Roller Coaster of Emotions. I don't think I've ever felt such different levels of emotions than I have in the past month. As the final week of my ten months here in Georgia approaches, I'm completely nostalgic for my time here and am just trying to soak everything up, while being incredibly anxious and excited to see and hug my family and friends next weekend. A beautiful river up in Mestia. Eating at our restaurat - Cafe Ushba! Hanging out at Gonio Fortress.

Wednesday, 11 January 2012. Petrol at £4 a litre? I left Nigeria less than two months ago and am still. Very aware of contrasts between Britain and Nigeria, so I know that in Britain overnight, the night being 31st December 2011, train fares increased by 10%, I also know that petrol in Nigeria went up from 65 Naria to around 145 Naria, around 28p up to around 60p. This is because the government removed the subsidy, but what does this mean to the average Nigerian? Nigeria is the sixth largest oil nation i...

Wednesday, June 8, 2011. I'm also super bad at completing lists. I love making lists - almost to the point of being ridiculous. Yes, I'm one of those who starts a list and adds things I've already done to it - just so I can cross them off. And typically I end up losing the list before I finish all of the items on it. Unless it's a packing list. those are pretty straightforward. I almost forgot. I have excuses prepared for my noncompletion of said list! Well one big excuse, really. Labels: 30 by 30. If yo...

Thursday, April 30, 2009. 10 days without news. I know it's long! Actually I was confronted at a huge dilemma. I had 2 choices: lie to you or stop writing in order to not break all your dreams about Sydney. the automn is here now and with it the cold weather. Temperatures drop down and since 3 days, I switch on the heater in my room. No other solution to keep the audience ratings. To migrate to the north. direction Fraser Island! 6 days of road trip in a all furnished left-hand drive. How much is it?
