But if we see change as a catalyst for growth and define growth as Peterson does with the Hebrew phrase of halok v’gadol, translated to mean a longer stride and a longer embrace, there are other questions we should always ask in the midst of any kind of change. What growth will this produce in me? 1 Comment so far.

Yoos and Eyes in Zambia. Our journey from California to Zambia. Saturday, February 16, 2013. Work Hard, Play Hard. I’ve always been a hard worker. Ever since I can remember, I strove to excel, to bring tasks to completion, to follow through with what I said I would do, to put 101% into everything I did. It’s something I valued inherently, but that desire was groomed and encouraged as I grew and learned and understood. Looking back at my life, I was always on the go. No time to dilly-dally. But slowly, I&...

Yoos and Eyes in Zambia. Our journey from California to Zambia. Saturday, January 10, 2015. Holiday Festivities and Family Fun. The months of November and December were positively packed with not just the holiday spirit, but also a flurry activity and visitors. November 20 -21, 2014, we hosted three AHI (Adventist Health International) board members from the U.S. for our yearly AHI board meetings – Dr. Dick Hart, Rod Neal, and Danjuma Daniel. Or that it was going to be taken from us. At one point, some c...

Yoos and Eyes in Zambia. Our journey from California to Zambia. Sunday, May 10, 2015. Although our biological children are still in infancy and toddlerhood, we have recently experienced a form of Empty Nest Syndrome. April seems to have been the month when all of our “children” came into our lives simultaneously. And slowly, starting in mid-April up to this last week, they have each left the nest – one by one. Your three week rotation (March 29 – April 17, 2015) was incredibly short. You are a skilled su...

Yoos and Eyes in Zambia. Our journey from California to Zambia. Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Life always brings constant change - sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. It's always harder to say good-bye than hello. During our time here in Zambia, we've had to say farewell to some precious people. But there are a few hellos as well. This flux of hellos and good-byes always results in a friendship that lasts beyond our brief time together. 1 Good-bye, Meiring, Juanita, and Abigail! 2 Good-bye, Mom!

Parking our car a block away from the school the girls could barely contain their excitement as we made the “long” walk to the school’s entrance. Halfway there I heard another kid yelling out from across the street, “Ennyn, Ennyn! Ennyn loves sitting in her little class library looking at books and reading the words she can. 3 Comments so far.

Our girls have always shared a room but never a bed. Even on the rare occasion when we’ve stayed at hotels, the kids divvy up with the parents. A couple nights ago after a premarital counseling session, I went up to check on the girls before myself getting ready for bed. This is what I saw:. Leave a Comment so far. Last weekend Ennyn, our 3-year-old, hit a major milestone in any girl’s life; she finally ate her first ever chocolate chip cookie. Yes, at age 3. Those of you that know Ennyn know that she will eat anything except for two items: raw tomatoes and chocolate. I have never met a little girl that didn’t like chocolate. 8220;MMMM. I like it! 2 Comments so far.
