Emily Dyer

January 19, 2013. New year, new website and blog! 2013 has brought an incredible amount of change already! I moved out of my NKB studio at the end of December and have been busy settling into a cozy space in my house. I will be taking a hiatus from my claywork to focus on my paper cuts and digital design. In celebration of new starts, I have redesigned my website and blog (and moved to the wordpress platform). My website is still found at www.emilydyer.com. Happy New Year and all the best in 2013! Emily Dyer : May 2011

http://emilydyer.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

May 31, 2011. From Inspiration to Decoration. I spend some time sketching to come up with a design that I'm happy with and then draw a final sketch at the scale I need for the piece I'm planning to put it on. Then I make a pattern using a piece of clear vinyl shower curtain liner. This way I can see through the pattern to place it on the piece and can reuse it over and over without it wearing out. You can find them for sale here. In my etsy shop! Studio 394 this upcoming Thursday, June 2 from 5-9 pm.

Emily Dyer : April 2012

http://emilydyer.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

April 22, 2012. I scanned in the papercut from the last post, colorized and layered images using Photoshop and Illustrator and created this fun pattern. Making patterns definitely appeals to my obsessive side! Not sure what I'm going to do with them, but I'm definitely filling up my hard drive. Posted by Emily Dyer. Cut black paper. Approx. 12" x 12". Beastly Spring allergies have sprung! At least the paper variety don't make me sneeze : ). Posted by Emily Dyer. April 02, 2012. Changes and new beginnings.

Nate's Notions: I'm FAT!!!!

http://natesnotions.blogspot.com/2012/01/im-fat.html

So you've noticed, I'm a male quilter. Really I did make that quilt. Yup all by myself. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Sorry for not blogging for a while. I'm going to try to blogging more often and about more than just quilting. I've been feeling like my life is a bit out of balance. One reason is that I haven't been exercising or eating right. One of my New Year's resolutions is to lose my extra batting around my middle. Here is a picture of me from about 5 or 6 years ago. Im with you, Nathan!

Sunday, May 25, 2008. In which we redeem ourselves, photographically speaking. So let it be said: the archibalds do not let more than 5 months pass without adding photos to their blog. we actually just posted a ton of photos to our web album, including pictures from the recent trip to north carolina, so if you're so inclined, feel free to look at those! Molly and geoff archibald. Friday, May 16, 2008. The crummy Minnesota weather comes charging back. Think I am exaggerating? Molly and geoff archibald.

Tuesday, November 18, 2008. 30 years ago today! Geoffrey david archibald was born, hurray! As i learned from the always informative and sometimes entertaining internet, 30 years ago today was the horrific jonestown massacre in guyana. let's focus on geoff! I was going to write 30 things i love about geoff, but my 2 month old is freaking out a little here, so let's go with 3. each one stands for ten years. :). 3 geoff is a fantastic kisser. I love you geoff! Molly and geoff archibald. Fun places to visit.

Archiblog: September 2008

http://archiblogmn.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 25, 2008. 9 lbs, 4 oz. Just wanted to take a minute and let everyone know of the new addition to our family- Georgia was born last Wednesday and it's been a busy week with little sleep, but we're really enjoying her. Quinn has been fantastic-she loves to "help" and has a little stool next to the bassinet so she can look in on her sister. Our good friend Annie lives in Pittsburgh, but she has an art history conference in St. Paul, so she'll stay with us for a few days as well. ...Satur...

http://natesnotions.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

So you've noticed, I'm a male quilter. Really I did make that quilt. Yup all by myself. Sunday, February 21, 2010. I took a little trip a while back to Lanesboro. MN for a quilt retreat with Cheri, Amy and Judy. Judy has a great posting about the retreat. I had this quilt cut out for quite a while, so it was on my UFO list. The pattern is called Weather Vane. I think it turned out great. I'm going to put it in the non-judged portion of the Minnesota Quilters Show in June. I need a name for it. For the cl...

So you've noticed, I'm a male quilter. Really I did make that quilt. Yup all by myself. Tuesday, December 6, 2011. A Few of My Favorite Things. I've been listening to Christmas music to get in the mood for the holidays. One song I don't quite get making it into the mix is My Favorite Things. Why that song says Christmas, I'm not sure. But it did make me think. I have a few new notions that would be on the list of my favorite quilting things. Since I'm making Tapestry king size. Thursday, December 1, 2011.

Nate's Notions: Tapestry 2.0

http://natesnotions.blogspot.com/2011/11/tapestry-20.html

So you've noticed, I'm a male quilter. Really I did make that quilt. Yup all by myself. Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Here are the contents of another one of my ArtBins. I purchased the Traditions Tapestry kit. I've already made one kit into Tapestry. And made the other kit into a different quilt. I decided to take some artistic license with the pattern this time around. Instead doing the nine-patches in the pattern. I'm going to do split rails. The first picture is my first block. I'm liking it!

quilts, etc.: camo commission

http://shawnadoering.blogspot.com/2011/04/camo-commission.html

Wednesday, April 13. A good friend of mine recently wanted a quilt for his nephew's first birthday, but informed me that the quilts i had available were nowhere tough enough for the little guy. So, we came up with a different plan. my friend donated some of his camo from his first days as an outfitter. there's lots of sentimental value and memories attached to the garments that will now be immortalized in the form of a quilt for the next generation. I put the nerdy bert label inside the pocket. I also us...
