https://emilyfarison.wordpress.com/2013/08/25/ciao-us-buongiorno-italia
Curiosity. experimentation. sharing. Skip to primary content. Ciao US, Buongiorno Italia! August 25, 2013. Some exciting updates. In just a few days I will be flying across the Atlantic to live in the Tuscan town of Cortona for a few months! Naples will conclude our trip, with lots of smaller cities in between. I’m looking forward to how my work will progress and change in Italy, especially as I embark upon Senior Thesis at the University of Cincinnati. To the next great adventure! Enter your comment here.
Show Notes | Wonderment
https://emilyfarison.wordpress.com/2014/02/14/show-notes
Curiosity. experimentation. sharing. Skip to primary content. February 14, 2014. As promised, here are more images of the show I’m currently a part of, which is titled [Un]limited. F. Orgive the image quality…lighting was a whole other issue to deal with during install! The show was a collaboration between fellow artists Julie Drout, Leah Marie Suber, Elizabeth Jade and myself. We pulled all of our pieces together within two weeks, which for ceramic work is quite a short period of time! Post was not sent...
Additive sculpture | Wonderment
https://emilyfarison.wordpress.com/2013/04/09/additive-sculpture
Curiosity. experimentation. sharing. Skip to primary content. April 9, 2013. So, I’ve been working with this flared vessel shape for a number of weeks now, applying underglaze painting to these forms, and I decided to try decorating my next vessel with similar designs, only in 3-d via additive sculpting. Just a different take on it. We’ll see where it leads! I’m thinking bright colors! Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to email (Opens in new window). This entry was posted in My Work.

Curiosity. experimentation. sharing. Skip to primary content. Emily Farison: Senior Thesis. April 1, 2014. This is the written compliment of the thesis subject matter I have been researching for my BFA capstone project at DAAP! I am very excited to show the work that is the other half of this project, and for all who read this, I hope it is enlightening. Photos of the work to follow. Purity of the Organic. How were my relationships being affected? As I drew closer to these patterns and inspirations that ...

Curiosity. experimentation. sharing. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Newer posts →. March 28, 2013. So this is one area of research I intend to explore. The patterning on this form is a further departure from cultural reference as far as the designs go, relying more on personal whim than research. I’m happy with how the painting came out, but now I’m considering the application and placement of the patterns (just right, not enough? Regardless, good steps toward future pieces! 8220;I s...

The City Chroma: Easy = Hard
http://citychroma.blogspot.com/2014/02/easy-hard.html
Monday, February 3, 2014. I decided a long time ago that I never wanted to settle for anything. I use that driving thought as a sort of compass for most of the decisions in my life. Am I taking the easy route? What am I willing to sacrifice? Will this make me stronger? But if anyone could change their mind every single day, I certainly would. For six months, I wrestled daily with the question, Where do I belong, Lord? That weekend I turned the offer down, cried a little, and put on a happy face. Noth...

Thursday, June 13, 2013. And They Just Keep Coming. I just asked myself when my last post was and nearly had a heart attack when I realized it was in February. Yikes! So many things to catch you up on. After telling people for months that Christie was going to move to Cincinnati, BAM! Sketching Carri's wedding day makeup look. I survived my capstone! Suzy setting up our studio for DAAPworks. Our families got to hangout for a bit as well. After graduation, Landor promoted me from an intern to a freelancer...
The City Chroma: Sacred Storm
http://citychroma.blogspot.com/2014/01/sacred-storm.html
Wednesday, January 22, 2014. I finally finished this book." I thought to myself, flipping to the last page of the Sacred Romance. By Brent Curtis and John Eldredge. Then, I saw it: Epilogue. Eh, I probably don't need to read that." I had started this book two summers ago when I first worked at Maranatha—I wasn't about to let 15 pages of afterthoughts get in the way of crossing this piece of Christian literature off my list. Read it, my daughter." He said. And then the storm broke above my head. It's a Co...
The City Chroma: November 2013
http://citychroma.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 22, 2013. I wrote this at the beginning of October when things were more confusing than ever. After some good conversation with people like Carri and lots of time to process, this post doesn't seem as crazy as it did when I typed it up. Enjoy all the metaphors! I made up my mind in the last few days of. Camp, but I haven't stopped thinking about it since. On top of all that, I have the strangest feeling about what lies ahead. I'm restless. I'm anxious like a kid wide awake in bed on ...

The City Chroma: January 2013
http://citychroma.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 24, 2013. A Real Wild Child. Lately I've been struggling with two sides of myself. Responsible vs. Insane (stay with me now.). My heart in a snapshot. I'm talking to you). Maybe that was really the start of this battle I'm in. I love to dance. No, I really love to dance. I feel most alive when I'm challenging myself in a technique class or worshiping the Lord through freestyle. And dance parties—don't even get me started! My spirit soars when I dance. And it's pretty sweet! I love conne...

Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: rejoice! I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired. It seems like the past six weeks I've spent more time in bed recovering from various types of sickness, exhaustion, and anxiety than ever before.
