Thursday, June 11, 2015. HEY GUYS, THIS VIDEO HAS JUST BEEN REDONE. (The original stopped after 43 seconds.) It took a few hours, but here it is. Do you always tell the truth. Is the fun subject that John Cullum and Emily delve into. The importance of how you compliment or criticize friends and peers is what the Cullums focus on. Going backstage after an opening night is tricky. John and Emily agree, that "politeness" lies are occasionally told, in order to maintain friendships with fellow artists. Okay,...

Friday, August 7, 2015. 179,000,000 MASTERPIECE. This Picasso - "Women of Algiers" - was sold for $179,000,000 at a recent Christie's auction. The buyer is a rich, well-known European, who already has a valuable collection. Eighteen years ago this painting sold for $31.9 million - just by sitting around, it earned the seller $47.5 million. The Christie's auctioneer called it, “One of the greatest moments in auction history.” Washington Post. Their rivalry, that profoundly affected the art world, is a sto...

Friday, May 1, 2015. The top computer guys are racing to be the first to make a quantum computer. Hey - are we on the verge of technology that would make your computer into an out-of-date thing, like an abacus? Are our computers sort of like horses that we were riding not really that long ago, and now. We're riding in jets? Yes, I have read in more than one place, that the quantum will be millions. What will the new computers have that's different from what we have now? Bits - binary digits. Software tod...

Thursday, May 21, 2015. WHERE IS JEFF BEZOS HEADING? I like Jeff Bezos. The story of how he happened to create Amazon inspires me. Also, my novels are sold on Amazon - I even have an author's page, but what I love is Bezos' store - it's where I shop for just about everything. I think Jeff B. has his mind on something else. Why did he buy the Washington Post. Last year for $250 million? Why has he been supporting the 10,000 year clock? He's spent $42 million on it. In 2013, after many years of work, India...

Friday, June 5, 2015. LIVE TO AGE 142? Hey, an American baby, born today, may live 20 years, 30, even 40 years longer than one born in 1925. There's an explosion of info about hanging around till age 142. Here's what I've gleaned from major sources. Scientists say it slows down ageing in humans like it does in mice. Guys who have been taking it have livers, hearts, and tendons that act like they're much younger. Eat a lot, the gene slows down, even halts cell-growing, till the next time you eat. In Great...

Saturday, May 30, 2015. Everywhere you look, there's YOU in a mirror. Aside from the mirrors on the walls of your home, every window in your house is a mirror. Same thing on the streets - glass store fronts, and glass windows reflect your image. Hey, like most women, I have a mirror in my handbag. We peep at mirrors to make sure we are . what? To ascertain if there's anything weirdo, odd ball, wrong with our face, hair, neck, or what we are wearing? Do we enjoy looking in the mirror? Try cutting it down,...

Saturday, July 11, 2015. Privacy is a big deal for most people. Like the dictionary says - it's the state of being apart from company or observation. It's seclusion. It's freedom from unauthorized intrusion. Many of my friends are adamant, passionately upset, that Facebook and Google are selling their data to advertisers or to the National Security Agency (NASA). Okay, I don't use a smartphone or tablet, but I have desktops and a laptop and they could be invaded, accessed by NASA, or some advertisers.

Friday, June 26, 2015. Oh boy, Rachel Dolezal - what a topic. In that face, the look of .what. dishonesty? No But friendliness, kindness? Famous people lying about their background has always bothered us, but because of Bryan Williams' exaggerations, and Lance Armstrong's blatant lies, it's become a bigger than ever no-no. Also, because of the many falsities in the way we present ourselves - in the clothes we wear and the things we do to improve the way we look - we tend to be much more skeptical nowadays.

em's talkery: SOCKETS
http://emtalkery.blogspot.com/2015/07/sockets.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Are light sockets the next BIG DEAL? Creators, the brainy guys who think up amazing, innovative, vast concepts, are now into SOCKETS. These guys say that there are four billion street lamps in the world, plus another four billion household light sockets in the U.S. alone, an average of 52 per house. Add in businesses, schools, airport terminals, and so on, and you get to tens of billions of sockets spread across every populated area. The specifics are over my head, but this soun...
