Sign on the Window. This season of ministry. August 19, 2014 in Uncategorized. 8220;So, what’s your plan? You going to keep working your way up to bigger and better churches and church leadership positions? Them where I didn’t before – in our church, on the street, in grocery stores. All in a day’s work. Confessions of a stay at home mom. Duke div girl (graduated). Living in the spaces. Oh little town of bethlehen. One brick at a time. The body of the lord. The life of andi and jared. A retired food blog by Emily Johnston. Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Two long months of silence, a new blog and (soon-to-be) website later, I'm back to edible earth! See what I've been up to at the EJA photo blog. Check back for that infamous bread recipe soon- sorry to keep you waiting with your sleeves rolled up, and thank goodness the weather's been nice enough for open windows! I'm glad you're back.and i enjoyed checking out Jacob's new blog too :). June 12, 2008 at 11:12 PM. View my complete profile.
edible earth: January 2008
http://edibleearth.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
A retired food blog by Emily Johnston. Tuesday, January 29, 2008. So I'm a little concerned about tonight's supper. Egg and Tomato Gratin. I know, it sounds thrifty and, well, eggy, but I was seduced by the photo in Jacques' Fast Food My Way. It makes the dish look so deliciously browned and crunchy cheesy. It's what's underneath the melted Baby Swiss I'm worried about. Egg, crushed canned tomato, dried thyme? I ask myself every single time I bake a brownie, or a quiche, or an eggy thing. . In reality, ...
edible earth: ...comme une madeleine.
http://edibleearth.blogspot.com/2008/03/comme-une-madeleine.html
A retired food blog by Emily Johnston. Thursday, March 6, 2008. I know, that was a mean trick, posting those 2 photos all alone with no words and no recipes. Then I got caught up in wedding. Sign) I still beat the eggs by hand with a whisk. Nostalgia. This is Patricia Well's recipe with a few mods. You'll get 1 dozen golden goodies the length of my index finger (2 1/2 inches) from this recipe. Zest of 1 lemon. Splash of vanilla extract. 3/4 cups a-p flour. 7 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled.
edible earth: Pick & Jam
http://edibleearth.blogspot.com/2008/09/pick-jam.html
A retired food blog by Emily Johnston. Wednesday, September 24, 2008. I never thought I would get into the kitchen this deep (maybe you saw it coming), but I made jam this afternoon. The crazy part? And eating it for a long time.). If you've got better chops than I in the jarring world, I'd love to hear your tricks and favorites (and hopefully you're not rolling your eyes at my novicey-ness). It was pretty entertaining watching Jacob run several hundred yards, hollering "there's a bee on my head! By boil...

Sign on the Window. The Holy Ground of Leaving. May 28, 2014 in Uncategorized. I am thankful for Jan Richardson and the blessing I need on this day. A Blessing in the Dust. You thought the blessing. In casting your lot. With this place,. In learning the art. And now you stand. The home you had. Had ached for,. Not yours, after all. As small comfort,. For the next step. As you go,. In your two hands,. In your heart that knows. There is a place. There is a blessing. In the leaving,. In the dust shed. You a...

Sign on the Window. 8220;Is it good news? 8221; James 2:1-17. September 10, 2015 in Uncategorized. Sept 6, 2015. Is it good news? Last year my neighbor came to see me. Her subsidized housing unit, a dilapidated duplex, had been sold to a new rental company. In exchange for a break in the rent she’d agreed to move out early, to move to another part of town. In her seventies, frail and tired, she wondered if we would help her pack up her things. And I wondered, is it good news? Is it good news? Two people ...
Anti-racism sermon on Mark 4:35-41 | Sign on the Window

Sign on the Window. Anti-racism sermon on Mark 4:35-41. June 22, 2015 in Uncategorized. Since then I’ve wondered if the 87-year old Susie Jackson brought her children and her grandchildren to play in this same fountain. I’ve wondered if she sat on that very same bench where I sat, just a few blocks from her church, Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal. Yes, our black brothers and sisters know about storms. Do you not care that we are perishing? I continue in this day of sadness and bewilderment with a hea...
beautiful mess: i was never a big fan of this day.
http://tlpartlow.blogspot.com/2009/02/i-was-never-big-fan-of-this-day.html
I was never a big fan of this day. Not even as a child. not even with a love to love on saint valentine's. I always liked love on regular tuesdays. I have recently found that some of those closest to my heart delight in the frill and kitsch of this strange holiday: the obnoxious doilies, the red and pink hearts, the glitter, and gushing confessions of love, even if only to good friends. This year, my heart has softened to appreciate these things. particularly. Evalentines from kate spade. Song of the day:.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008. My first trip to the Zoo. I went to the Zoo last Saturday for the first time, the Hippos were smelly, the seals were funny, the Gorillas were grump - but the monkeys were the best. Saturday, March 29, 2008. My First Doll and Buggy. Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Sunday 17th Febuary was a beautiful sunny spring day so we all went to Bettystown for a long walk. This was the first time I could walk on the beach on my own and I loved it! Saturday, February 2, 2008. I'm just wore out now!

Emily Ganser | Philadelphia Photojournalist
Snap Shooting in Philadelphia. This slideshow requires JavaScript. I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn’t photograph them. Trying to take photos without my subject realizing is probably one of my biggest fears as a photographer. As I feel drawn to photos of unsuspected people walking on the street, I don’t feel connected. I feel a much stronger connection with subjects that are aware of the camera. I think it is important to go out by yourself when you are using this method of sho...
Messages from a Bottle(r) – Uncorking and pouring out what's on my mind
Messages from a Bottle(r). Uncorking and pouring out what's on my mind. Books I’ve Read. I am not a robot. 8221; After only a moment’s hesitation, my friend pointed down to the designated second-from-the-right spot on the table, the same person from the aforementioned awkward conversation. I nodded. She was right. And then something unexpected happened. My chin started quivering. And tears filled my eyes. And then I found that I was crying. No, I don’t always feel things as events are transpiring; ...
